Default >>> The OFFICIAL RALEIGH-DURHAM-CH Meet-Up Thread <<<

In an older thread there was a brief discussion about getting some Corvette activities going in the Triangle area. It never got off the ground, but I think there was enough interest to pursue it.

I'm not thinking about a formal club, just a chance to meet-up with other Corvette folks in the area. Some activity ideas could be:

Cruise-Ins/shows
HPDE/autocross/racing
Holiday Laps at VIR
NCCAR events
Go Karts at Rush Hour Karting
Road trips to ALMS or Grand-Am races
Tech help

Or just meeting somewhere and hoisting a couple cold ones and shooting the bull.

Next gonna try and make Grill 57 on new years day....

Given enough flash to bang time, I could make it to some events. It's about a 3 hour drive from the coast. Not much happening out here.

Default Burlington Cruise-In

There's a Cruise-In at the Harris Teeter in Burlington tonight at 6:00 pm.

Harris Teeter
2727 S Church St.
Burlington, North Carolina 27215

Facebook page

Just take exit 141 (Huffman Mill Rd.) and continue NE until you see Church St. (70). Cross Church St. and Harris Teeter is on the left.

Default Burlington Cruise-In

Well, it was damned cold and mostly a younger crowd. There was a super nice old Chevy II and some vintage Camaros and Mustangs.

After a while the ricer crowd showed up. By then it was too cold so we retired to Hooters.

After we left the kids apparently started screwing around and local law enforcement was called in. That was probably the last cruise-in at the Burlington Harris Teeter.

Would have joined you, but I'm down one map sensor and sending the TB out to get ported. Looks like I'm Vett'less for 2 weeks.

Thats a shame....same thing happened at the original location for our Cars and Coffee. Stupid people really know how to ruin a good thing....

Hey...which one of those track days (if any) that you listed are the $50 runs??

From another thread:

SCMC/TCUSA on Track at VIR, Danville, VA -- 1/26-1/27 w/ GOOD WEATHER GUARANTEE!
ALL MAKES AND MODELS WELCOME!

SCMC/TCUSA on Track at Virginia International Raceway -- January 26-27 – Danville VA
w/ GOOD WEATHER GUARANTEE!

I hope everyone had a great Holiday and has big plans for a fantastic New Year celebration! I know many of you are getting excited for the 2013 on track season. Many of us are tired of the hustle and bustle of the holidays and are getting ready to hit the track next month at VIR. That’s right a January track event…don't laugh, it was sunny and 65 degrees last year and we all had a blast! This is the first "official" SCMC/TCUSA event for 2013. The event will be an HPDE with no car show or dyno, just plain old wide open, full throttle, full course VIR for two days. Here is the information you will need for this event.

Virginia International Raceway, Danville VA
January 26-27, 2013
$350.00 for two days or $225.00 for one day.
Pre-register by January 12, 2013 and save $40!

REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

Cancellation Policy: We have a special cancellation policy for this event and this event only. You may cancel up to 72 hours prior to the event and get a full refund.

Special Weather Insurance: If it is raining or snowing or if the temperature is below 48 degrees, this event will be cancelled and a full refund will be returned to the registrants. We will also shred the check if you agree to it.

The bottom line on this event is that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain since you will get a full refund if you cancel up to 72 hours before the event. We have a weather clause so if it is bad weather, we will cancel the event, and you will get your check back. No checks will be endorsed prior to January 23, 2013. That means we will hold your check till we know that the weather is going to be good and only then will we deposit your fee. There will be no on line payment for this event since we do not want to pay processing fees and will be able to give you a full refund should the weather be bad.

For more information and registration details, please visit http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=19048.

Hope to see you there!

The HyperDrives are usually on Saturday. All the NASA Mid-Atlantic events have them (VIR & Summit Point). See the schedule I posted above.

The Southeast Region has a hyperdive at Carolina Motorsports Park (SC) on Feb. 9th
. Also Road Atlanta has one on March 9th. That one is $75 for some reason. There is another one at CMP on May 18th.

Super-nice folks, but definitely not into racing/HPDE/autocross/etc. It's mostly a social club that likes to do touring, shows, and charities. I went to a couple of their meetings and they had one member who was promoting an upcoming HPDE at Carolina Motorsports Park. I don't think anyone in the group took him up on it.

I was hoping with this thread that we could create a less formal group (none of that rules of order rot) that is more performance oriented.
