***Anybody in Middle Tennessee want some Fikse Wheels? Come on in!!!***
Sup everybody...my names Jeff and I am a new events coordinator for the Middle Tennessee area. For those of you that know me or have met me in person, you all know I like to push creative things to the max with my Corvette. I use the same mentality here on the forum.
I would love to hear anybody's suggestions on what they would like to do and or where they would like to meet up. We don't have to have anything huge, but then again, if we have enough people interested why not make an occasional event big? Please post up your thoughts. Have no ideas you say? Well here is one...I wouldn't mind having a Corvette Car Show that was judged a little different then the average show. How about points for a nice sound system, custom interior? Points for the loudest exhaust? and what about engine mods? Like I said...little different from the average car show.
hmmm what about this.....How about going to an event you already go to but represent CorvetteForum just by showing up displaying a badge or wearing a CF tshirt? I am thinking the Talladega Event held in July would be an excellent place. Thoughts? In addition to a car show, what about just everybody meeting up somewhere for a nice dinner just to talk and share stories? NO MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED! Isn't that the great part?
Ok, so you have read up to here thinking YEH YEH...what about the wheels!? Well here is the scoop! Each forum user who posts their suggestions in this thread will become eligible to win a custom set of Fikse wheels in your choice of style, finish and size. Pretty cool huh?.
For the official rules please go here:http://forums.corvetteforum.com/sout...gal-stuff.html
Iam looking forward to seeing what people have on their minds!

Jeff: Be sure to post a link to the official rules on the contest.
Chris: Check the list of regional events coordinators in the sticky thread in this section:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/sout...rdinators.html
There are a number of RCs in Georgia and I expect they will be posting a Fikse wheels giveaway thread soon. If not, we can sign you up as a regional events coordinator and let you take care of it.

Jeff,
Thanks for the great offer.
I think that most folks enjoy hanging out and looking at each others cars at car shows and gathers etc., but I think more folks would be more interested in some type of driving event. While many probably aren't willing to do an open track day or even autocross, I think a cruise would catch the attention of most. Pick a nice scenic route with some twisty roads and have at it. Just a thought...

Ok, here is the ultimate Middle Tn. roadtrip and day cruise!! Center Hill Dam to Chattanooga via as many backroads as possible!! Everyone meet at Center Hill Dam on Hwy 96 in Dekalb Co. Head south on Hwy 96 to Hwy 70, hwy 70e to 56s, 56s to hwy 288e, hwy 288e to hwy 287, hwy 287 to Bone Cave Rd, Bone Cave Rd to hwy 30, hwy 30 thru Spencer to Pikeville, 127 thru Dunlap, up and over Signal Mt final stop CheeBurger CheeBurger in downtown Chattanooga. We have run these roads many times and there are a Gazillion curves and it is beautiful scenery!! You don't have to drive to the Tail of the Dragon to hit some killer curves, they are right here in Middle Tn.

Here's my take on it, I go to Eureka Springs, AR every year and there are very few vendors there. I don't know why for sure, when I go to an NHRA event there is a midway of vendors. I know ES is no NHRA event but there are virtually no vendors at this corvette event. There are mostly late model vettes at this event and probably 98 percent of the cars are driven there. I would think this would be a great market contact point for a supplier of quality wheels like Fikse. I was just there two weeks ago and I think vendors would add quite a bit to the event. It's always the first weekend in October and really popular with forum members.

What about Louisiana ? I don't think we ever have to much going on around here unless its in NOLA. We need some central location that would be good for everyone so is they are in the north or south part of the state it's easier for all

The biggest thing I have noticed over the last 10 years or so has been vendor participation as a whole. With the expansion of the internet, many vendors don't find it cost effective even if it a vendor spot at a function is totally free. The time, effort, and travel cost has just gotten very overwhelming. Now don't get me wrong...there still are some out there that care about their customers enough (like Marc@vettenuts.net) that they load up a hauler and hit the roads.
Going forward, I think it would take some incentive to get a few vendors that are on the fence to attend a function. The incentive can be anything like the forum paying their "CorvetteForum Supporting Vendor Rent" for a month to even someone just giving them a good reason on why attending could make their business more profitable. All it takes is someone to convince the vendor.

I guess one idea that would include Louisiana would be a CorvetteForum Tour. Basically the same thing as the "Power Tour", if you have ever heard of it only we would be promoting the CorvetteForum. People just start driving from one point to the next with others adding on for as far as they want and leave whenever they want. So if your from a particular spot, say Louisiana, as the tour comes rolling through, you mingle into the pack and go till they stop or till you want to call it quits. Many go the entire distance, others just a hundred miles or less. Just a thought.

Try this
I belong to Corvette Memphis and we have a event every year at the Memphis Dragway. It'd a shine and show with no judgeing. We have lots of prize giveaways and you can run your car on the strip for $10 as many times as you want. No stress just come and have fun. We hav't set the date for 2013 yet but we are working on it!
Now just send the wheels to me

Love to change up my wheels. If I won, I'd even offer, my current, motor sport replica wheels up for a St. Jude auction!!
How about a fall colors tour/ride?

Idea for a gathering
It's that time of year here in Kentucky and Tennessee to take road trips and enjoy the colors and back roads. This is a popular event for our club and a couple out of Louisville. Mike Linnig's has a hot rod cruise night this Saturday (20th) and a large turnout is expected. The next Saturday after that (27th) there will be a Halloween Party, which our group will attend also.

If you were to look for a regional meet I would pick BG. The Southeast forum States and the Great Lakes States would be central to BG. Do it in the spring or fall. Maybe cruise into a vette show along the way.
And I like the idea of CF T-shirts for Carlisle events etc. T-shirt to include the www address.

Several years ago we did a road trip form Nashville to east TN and rode the Dragon. Fun ride and we had a really good turn out. Car show season is about over for the year, but Beech Bend is going strong for test and tunes. maybe a day trip to the drag strip, race, watch, eat, etc.
Now what about these wheels.

How about a cruise to East Tennessee to enjoy some of the best mountain roads? The run from Gatlinburg to Cherokee is very nice if you don't get in traffic.
Those wheels would be nice.

Whatever we do, let's make it a road-trip!! There are too many cruise-ins and car shows out there and I think the majority of us bought our Vettes to DRIVE!! While, shows are fun, driving them is what it's all about!!!

How about a cruise to the Jack Daniels invitational BBQ? My wife and I did it this past weekend. We didn't take the Vette sincve we had a third passenger and my wife is 6 months pregnant, but would love to do it next year. There was an entire parking lot full of Vettes when I got there so I was a bit unhappy I wasn't in mine.
There are a lot of backroads leading to Lynchburg from middle Tennessee. The BBQ is always in October so the leaves are gorgeous so taking a ride down the back roads would be fun for driving and viewing.
