Re: [NASHVILLE] Trace run, and dinner! (Adam Boca)
I would love to make the trip.
Are you talking about Shiloh National Military Park? That Shiloh is 152 miles from the center of Nashville, near Pittsburg Landing.
I've been there. Walking that park is like walking through a church - it has that air of sanctity and peace. Then you stand on the Sunken Road, and trace the path to Bloody Pond, and remember what happened there...
I look at the map of the Trace, and see that we would have to leave the trace and mosey down a state highway or two. Here's a link to a PDF map. http://www.nps.gov/natr/ppmaps/natrmap1%2Epdf
Location: www.ncminsurance.com Bowling Green KY Home of the Corvette!

Yeah you are right, the trace starts around mile marker 345. I was thinking about getting off at 240, and taking one of those state roads to Shiloh. I can not imagine what happened there, I have heard and read a lot, and would like to actually see it.
Re: [NASHVILLE] Trace run, and dinner! (Adam Boca)
I'm in.
It's not a bad drive, Adam. I just constructed this at maps.expedia.com.
From (intersection) "SR-100 & Natchez Trace Parkway", the terminus, to "Natchez Trace Parkway & US-64" - 73.3 miles, 1 hr 27 min
From "Natchez Trace Parkway & US-64" to "US-64 & SR-13" (Waynesboro) - 11.5 miles, 14 min.
From "US-64 & SR-13" to "Shiloh National Military Park, Tennessee" - 42.8 miles, 59 minutes.
Expedia maps always works straight from known speed limits - doesn't allow for the odd tractor hauling a load of hay or a pelleton of cyclists, but that gives us
Distance: 127.6 miles (You were very close, Adam!)
Time: 2 hours 40 minutes, one way.
Will need tunes and a companion, and we'll do some stopping along the way, eh?
Re: [NASHVILLE] Trace run, and dinner! (Adam Boca)
I would love to go. I have driven down part of the trace in the past, and it is indeed a great drive. However, I won't be able to make June 1'st. A good friend of mine is getting married outside of St. Louis. I'll have to take a raincheck for another event. I've been trying to get together with the Nashville area Vette'ers, but i just can't get my act together. Even when I try (like yesterday) something else takes priority. Sigh....
We can make this happen, I'm sure. There are only so many available weekends sadly, for all of us.
Let's see...
W/E of May 11-12: ZR-1 and C4 Gathering
W/E of May 18-19: Rick Church Homecoming at Clarksville Cracker Barrel
W/E of May 25-26: CorvetteForum Cruise-in III
W/E of June 1-2: (folks gotta work, tentative Trace Run?)
W/E of June 8-9: (no Museum events...)
W/E of June 15-16: (no Museum events...)
W/E of June 22-23: Historic Motorama
W/E of June 29-30: 50th Anniversary Kickoff
So there are good possibilities. Let's get our buddy, Sergeant Hulka, the Big Toe, to sticky us and maybe fire up a poll? Then we can try to get the word out to the masses, incuding the non-Forum-surfing members of the NCC, to look in here...
Re: [NASHVILLE] Trace run, and dinner! (Matt Black)
Well, June 1st is my birthday! But, I am gonin to a friends wedding that afternoon so I won't be able to attend. If we make it another weekend I should be able to cruise along...and I really want to cruise to Natchez Trace (never been there B4!)
