Suggestions needed to get forum members to participate in car show
On April 22 I posted here about a Corvette Show coming up on May 18. I have received ZERO responses. Does anyone have any constructive ideas on how to get forum members to participate?
Re: Suggestions needed to get forum members to participate in car show (ZEEEE 06)
Rick, I started out by creating an email list of all the active forum members I see who are in my area, I then started to have small local, informal lunch gatherings to help build the local crew and it just grows from there :)
You could also enlist the help of "joecool" to do a Regional Coordinators email for your area :)
I would also suggest posting in the different generation "Genreral" sections with a link to the post in SE.
I would also submit it for placement on the calendar.
And lastly, don't get discouraged....all you can do it try your best to get the word out, when you're at the show, talk up the forum and take lots of pics with forum members and their cars then when you get home post the pics, talking up the show.
If we ever had ALL the fourm members in our area attend the same event, we'd have over 100 people easily, but there's alsways something that prevents some people from attending

Rick, I feel the same way with my Florida Dyno day event thread. It would help me if you post up a few more details about the event. Judging? All years? Etc. The problem for me is, I love to go look at vettes, but I hate doing all the work involved getting my car ready to show.
I have noticed when Phil (joecooool) sends out emails, we get a big turnout to the local cruise-in. Try that out also. I have also noticed most of the local "active" forum posters are not members of the Jacksonville Corvette Club. Without emailing events, most of us will not know about them.

Mean Green
Thanks for your suggestions. I will give them a try.

There will be 1st 2nd and 3rd place awards for C1 through C5 Corvettes plus peoples choice and best of show. Dash plaques to the first 100 and lunch specials. Take a few hours to clean up your beautiful Nassau Blue Coupe and come join us.
Fro Daddy
The cost is $20 and proceeds go to benefit the Ronald Mc Donald House.

Hey Rick
Count me in :D
I was reading your thread and had a few of thoughts:
1) I was planning to at least attend the show 'cause I love to see a bunch of Corvettes together.
2) Not sure I would have entered the show because of unknown schedule until the date get closer, BUT
3) Show is being held by JAX Corvette Club and they have a great reputation for social AND charitable events.
4) What better "cause" than Ronald McDonald house?
5) It's only $20 and I consider that more of an investment in some child's stay at the hospital than money out of my pocket!
6) Even if I had to cancel at the last moment, I know it's a good cause.
OK - anybody else in the area want to sign up for this event? Let's show the kids that we care.

Rick:
One reason you might have received ZERO responses is because May 22 is a Wednesday. Is that the show a Rich's in Green Cove on the 18th? I have to leave for Denver that Saturday morning, other wise, I would be there.

Thanks. You're correct, it is the 18th. My original thread announcing the show does have the correct date. I have corrected the date in this thread. :seeya
Re: Suggestions needed to get forum members to participate in car show (SeaFive)
Rick, just keep plugging away, local events and rallying the local troops to invade area shows is always a blast...the Misfits are almost at a point where we can take a trophy for most cars attending :D
Re: Suggestions needed to get forum members to participate in car show (Mean Green 2000)
Yeah, but then we'd have to become a "club". Then there's all the politics and in-breeding...I mean in-fighting. Then there's the whole issue of mis-appropriation of club funds for the leaders mods, etc, etc, etc. :jester

I missed you original post also. But I saw it today and replied.
The suggestion to send an email to people in the area seems to be the best method of drawing attention to the events. ($.02) :D
