Anybody dumb enough to consent to a search learns a lesson from the experience.
At best, you'll spend the rest of the officer's shift watching him/her toss your car...after which you'll get to put it all back together.
At worst, they'll find some trivial malum prohibitum type offense like your pal got.
Repeat after me: "I do not consent to any search, am I free to go?"

The only thing they are looking for in a search, is something to arrest you for. Do you think they care if your carpet is the wrong color?

If you're driving in Southern VA be extremely careful down in the Emporia area on 95 near the NC border. It is notorious speed trap.

My daughter got a ticket for 81 in a 60 zone. Amazing how it's just over the reckless limit. She and my wife drove the 3 hours to protest it and it was reduced to a "Improper Equipment" charge which is not even a moving violation. I think the judge knew the game and didn't approve of it. He let several others off with highly reduced charges.
