Default North Charlotte Folks & Bucko's Gang: Need Input!

Spring is around the corner and it is time to start talking about scheduling our cruise-ins again. We had a great group of folks last year that made it out to the Bucko's cruise-ins on a monthly basis. I want this to continue, but I would like to see our "gang" grow.

One thought that I had, was to look at a more centralized location that would still be reasonable for the Mooresville/Statesville/Troutman folks, but might encourage more Charlotte participation. I would propose that we look at the Huntersville area. There is a lot of new development around Exit 25 / Hwy 73. This location would also be easy access for the Concord area folks.

What does everyone think?
Do we eliminate Bucko's or just create a second (monthly) cruise-in night?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to a business that might be willing to sponsor a cruise-in?

I have some time available to look at a new "spot" (YES!! I am still a freeloader/unemployed!!). But the job search is starting to produce, so this "available time" might not last much longer. So, shoot me your feedback soon!

Can't wait to start cruisin'!

Qik,

I was just starting to think we need to have a get together with the weather warming up. I'm happy meeting anywhere but do agree a more central location may accommodate more people. I'm trying to get some of the vette owners in my neighborhood here in Huntersville to participate. I'll also try to think of some places we could have a cruise-in. I must say that I really enjoy Bucko's with the hot rod crowd also showing up.

Regards,

Jim

It's not exactly more convenient, but from what I've heard, every Tuesday night they have a cruise in of hot rods and such at the old Wal-mart in Concord (a few miles north of the speedway on hwy 29).

I am all for something ''else''... a second cruz-in...but I would like to keep the Bucko's thing going as well.

Huntersville sounds good....a more central location for those in Charlotte.
Maybe Mark or Jim :D could scout out the area and see what y'all can come up with?

Sounds like a plan to me! I will keep an eye on this thread and hope to participate. I work on the south side, just off of 77 and a location near exit 25 would be great. Bucko's in Mooresville is a bit much from Carowinds.

Mark,

This is probably a dumb suggestion, but, what about the Huntersville Business Park at exit 23? After hours there are any number of parking lots where we could meet. We'd probably have to ask permission so the Huntersville cops don't get all excited. Just a thought. If not, I'll see everyone at Buckos or wherever. :seeya

I had a thought along the Exit 23 line too. Is that "Tasty Freeze" still open on Hwy 21 just below Gilead Road? There's a pretty big parking lot behind there that's mostly unused...PLUS can get munchies! :D

Wolfster,

Good idea, but I think people would rather meet where we can eat etc... I just met on Friday with the guy who builds most of the hotrods that meet at Buckos. I'll ask him if there are any other gatherings in the area, especially south of Mooresville.

Regards,

Jim

I agree with Jim. We need to find a spot that close to an eating establishment.

Al: I can't think of the Tasty Freeze that you are talking about. Is/was it in the front of the shopping Center where that Seafood (fried) restaurant is?

I plan to ride around a little tomorrow and look around. I will "scout" the areas around exit 23 and 25. Any other suggestions in that area would be appreciated.

The traffic is exactly what I was talking about. Back to the idea of where to gather...

What about Friendly's? Isn;t there one at the Huntersville exit off of I77?

I am down below Weddington, and can be in Mooresville in about 45 minutes. I saw a reference to Tubby's, what is it and when?

There used to be a Wednesday get together in Monroe, NC right off 74 across from Sonic.

Why not try to move it to exit 25?

AL says....... It is/was just above the Waffle House and the Quick Lube place across the street from Hardee's.

My wife just informed me tonight that there is now a Johnny Rockets hamburger joint at exit 23 in Huntersville. I guess it just opened cause I have not seen it yet. Anyway, a retro restaurant might be kind of cool for our old cars. Any thoughts? I'm also going to try and talk with some vette owners in the area about joining us. By the way, when are we having our first get together? I've got the vette running good in anticipation of the poker run in April.

Regards,

Jim

Weather and other committments have kept me from looking yet. I plan to drive around the Huntersville area on Thursday.

Carovette: Where did you see the reference to Tubby's??

Rose: I will look for the Tasty Freeze on Thursday!

Jim: Johnny Rockets sounds like it would be a great location. I will definately check them out tomorrow!!! Tell your wife thanks for the heads-up!! As far as setting up our first 2002 get-together, I would say early April. I currently have a few parts of my rear suspension out of the '72 right now. I am planning to clean as I go and won't be done for a week or two.

Another thought: There are a lot of new restaurants around the Concord Mills Mall area. If we can't find a reasonable location in Huntersville, would the "gang" be willing to drive to the mall? Last year, Jillians sponsored a car show every Sunday (I think) and provided free (I think) food.

Mark

That sounds good as well...but I know that I won't be able to make it every weekend...I have to work every OTHER weekend.

Concord Mills would be perfect for me, but that has nothing to do with the fact that I live in Concord...... ;)

Hey gang!

Things have been kinda hectic here at work so my forum browsing has been very minimal. My computer at home is a dial up and well...well it's just to painful to use.

I too would'nt mind some new scenery, but, would like to keep the Bucko's thing going as well.

I don't get out much...can someone tell me how far Concord Mills Mall is from say Statesville or Mooresville??? I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
Dwayne
