I'll be there. I guess we won't be doing any top speed runs on the bridge this Saturday and maybe johnsvette won't get another ticket.

I'm not sure.. it's valentines day weekend so I'm not sure if a cruise-in is exactly the place the girlfriend wants to be! Maybe I can talk her into stopping by for a few minutes.. :blueangel:

I am gonna try to make it.

Also may head to the midnight drags at Jax Raceway after the cruise in. The gates open at 10pm and it is only $10 dollars to run. I went Tuesday and people where getting 10ish runs each in. Also this coming Tuesday at Jax is GM night. I think all GM's racing get a reduced admission.

Yeah, yeah the entrance is a dirt road, you can wash your car Sunday.

Great time, as usual. Nice to meet a few new faces. And this time no speeding tickets for me.

Maybe I can talk her into stopping by for a few minutes.. :blueangel:
You was there only a few seconds. Did you go out to the drags? How was it?

I had to do the Valentine's dinner which is why I couldn't stay long. But she did let me go to the raceway. Someone said that the track on Tuesday's is alot stickier, but that Sat. night it was a joke! You could accelerate, even baby it off the line, and still get serious wheel spin. I'd rather launch on the street!

Aside from that, it was fun. I found out my vette had a flakey thermostat and got embarassed a couple of times after it would shut off. :( I managed to get 4 runs in though.

Remember, this was my first time at the strip so I had alot of learning to do. My first run was against a riced-out probe and he didn't know what he was doing either. I was actually just waiting for him to launch because I didn't know the tree. Missed 2nd, 3rd, but still managed to beat him by 1.144 . .426 reaction (foul), 4.365 60', 12.092 @ 61.81 mph

2nd run my vette was getting alot hotter but was still in operating specs. I was lined up against a suped up LS1 Impala SS. No traction killed everyone's 60'. ME: .862 reaction, 2.335 60', 9.438 @ 77.07 mph HIM: .741 reaction, 2.244 60', 9.676 @ 72.01 mph. I got him by .116 with my girlfriend in the passenger seat and almost a full tank of gas. :D

3rd run is where I got embarrased. I think I lined up against a new cougar, or a mitsu eclipse. I wasn't paying attention because my engine was overheating but there was no way I could get out of line. I didn't want to limp down the line, so it was do-or-die. I was going to get this 1/8 or my vette would die trying! (Very stupid of me in hindsight.) ME: .652 reaction  , 2.593 60', missed 2nd, 10.249 @ 72.57 mph. HIM: .967 reaction, 2.551 60', 10.429 @ 66.48 mph. I beat him, but right when I hit the 1/8 my car shut off because it was too hot. I had to get towed to the parking area which is extremely embarrasing even now. :cuss

I let it sit there and cool off while me, my gf, my buddy, and his wife piled up in his 99' TA WS6 to have some fun going down the line. We got 2 runs in and it was fun!

My vette was cooled off and I was ready for my 4th and final run. The car of the night was a Mercedes E55 AMG auto running low-mid 9's. (The only other car I can compare it to was a couple of vettes there running the same. This track was HORRIBLE!) Guess who the AMG wanted to race?

4th run I lined up against him, did my burn out, and MY VETTE DIED AGAIN! It was running a little hot, but come on! :bs While he turned a .552 reaction  , 2.469 60', I was trying to get my car started on the line. :cuss Finally after a few seconds it started up and I was a little angry. My temp was fine so I dogged it down the 1/8. 5.481 reaction, blew the 60' because I was so pissed 2.853, shifted way too high outside of my powerband, and got a 10.071 @ 74.98 mph. :boxing

But I still had fun! I shouldn't have ran the last run and should have checked things over a before I went. I got really lucky that I didn't blow something up, but I'll be more responsible next time. Sunday the thermo was changed, coolant drained, and I added some water wetter. I tested it running the heat full blast at about 4k rpm going down the road and it didn't get over 180 deg. With my auxilary fan on, the temp dropped to 150deg. Still, I have a feeling that my engine isn't performing at its full potential. I'm waiting for my tax return to start some mods, and it will be tuned once that happens. I'm hoping to sweak some double-digit horses out of it then.

So are you going to go on Tuesday John? Like I said earlier, I heard the track is prepped more on Tuesday and so the traction problems aren't as bad then. I might want to tag along to get a little more track time before she goes into the shop. Maybe joecooool and some others could come too?

Sorry for the long post! :seeya

I'm probably in if you guys are going. John and I have been talking about it but were not sure yet. 1/8 mile does not mean anything to me, but I'd like to practice a few launches and 60' times. I've always been pretty good on the reaction times, but practice is still helpful.
