VIR Goes Live on March 12 at 8:00am central time!

Continuing with our highly successful HPDE program, we make our annual pilgrimage to Danville Virginia for 2 days at VIRginia International Raceway. One of the country's premier circuits, our High Performance Driving Event at VIR is always highly anticipated and sells out in mere minutes. Past attendees at our HPDEs have included Tom Wallace and Kirk Bennion as Instructors, with Harlan Charles, Wil Cooksey, Tom Peters and others to name just a few as students. For 2009 the event dates are June 29-30. Special attendees at VIR this year will be Andy Pilgrim and Shields Bergstrom. They will be giving rides and instructing in our Advanced Classroom. As our past participants in HPDEs have discovered, there are more smiles per mile at one of these schools than you can ever imagine.

We continue to have run groups based on experience; beginner, novice, intermediate, advanced and instructors with room for a total of 126 students (not counting instructors). In a major change this year students may drive any GM auto product suitable for track. So Camaros, G8s, Solstice coupes, etc. are all acceptable and we may see some GM CTF cars. Trucks are not permitted nor are convertibles unless they have an SCCA roll cage. All students in the beginner, novice and intermediate level will have classroom instruction and will be accompanied by an instructor in their car while on track. Advanced students will be checked out for solo status.

For those people who are interested but not sure if 2 days of track are for them, we will be continuing our PrimeDrive mini-school. This one-day school limited to 25 registrants features a classroom session, one on-track session with an instructor in car and one session ride-along with an instructor. The PrimeDrive is an excellent opportunity to sample our driving program before taking part in a full school.

Due to scheduling issues there will be very few NCM HPDE schools in 2009 so make sure you keep watch for the announcement that registration is opening. Registration will open at 8:00am central time on March 12, 2009 . You will want to make your reservations as soon as registration opens, as this event will fill up in MINUTES. Member price at $400 is less than last year, non-member $450 which includes a 1 year membership and PrimeDrive is still $75. Pre-registration includes a personalized event hardcard and event t-shirt.

Once you register you must download and complete pages in the following documents. The Classification Form must be filled out and returned by fax, mail or email to Karen Renfrow, Karen@corvettemuseum.org / fax 270.781.5286. The Information Form must be filled out and brought to the event registration desk. The Classification form has hotel information as well.

Make sure you are signed up on the NCM eNews to receive the latest news on this and all NCM events.
