[Event] Fall Skyline 10/25/08
#23
How far down Sky line drive is this going? I'm trying to figure out if I want to stay at Holiday Inn Fri. & Sat. night or get a room some where down the road for Sat. night. What does everyone else do?

Haven't done the scouting run yet so I'm not 100% sure of the complete route. But 211 will be in the mix!

I'm looking forward to this too this will be my first time out. I called and got the room tonight at the Holiday Inn they are still letting us have the cut rate. The wife and I are using this as a weekend get away so we got the room for Fri. & Sat. we should meet everyone at the meet & greet.

Wife and I always look forward to this great road trip each year especially w/ the fall colors! It's about a 5.5hr drive from our place and it's gorgeous all the way. We're also planning to vacation a week and drive the entire Skyline drive and Blue Ridge parkway as well for extra fun.

Jim,
Did you all get to pre-run this past weekend?
Do you have any more information for us as to the route, etc.?
Thanks,
Wayne

Let me just say that our wonderful park service is doing everything in their power to make this cruise as difficult for us as they can.
I can tell you that the plan is to take the group photo at Jack Evans from a bucket truck. This will ensure that every participant has an opportunity to be in the photo!

Seems like they would welcome the chance to have more money for the Park. I am hoping the weather will hold out as it is beautiful up their this time of year.

Speaking of weather, is this rain or shine? How wet does it have to be before its called off? Right now its calling for a 40% chance of rain on Saturday.

Yes, rain or shine. We have never canceled due to weather. Just ask the "Fog Cruise" group! (The Toys for Tots folks need donations regardless of the weather...)

I know mine does, haha.
It's just a little tricking having over 700rwtq at 2200, running drag tires in the rain.....on mountain roads, haha. Hopefully I can change over to the Nitto's and be OK

That was when there was about 40 of us and we met in a commuter/recycling lot.
Hard to believe this has been a bi-annual trip now for years
