Default North Georgia Mountain Cruise: July 26, 2008

Since some cannot attend the Intrastate Run/Cruise, we have made a mini-cruise event on Saturday, July 26, 2008 for a North Georgia Mountain Run. We are going to be heading up to the Blairsville and Vogul State Park area. The plans are to meet up at the Hamilton Mill Publix (in Dacula right off of I-85) at 7:30AM then head over to the McDonalds off of Dawsonville Hwy at 8:30AM, then we will meet up at the 400 Outlet Mall at 9:30 AM and head out 10:00AM SHARP! Anyone and everyone is welcome!!! There is a rain make-up date of Sunday, July 27, 2008 and following the plans above. If anyone has any questions let us know!!!

I'm up for a small cruise, I am all confused on the Intrastate deal, never
heard any official plans of attack from anyone going form Georgia, but
from "SkipsVille" Beside being a crip I can only take so much driving before the ole stump wears out

my reaction time isn't as good with a stick, anyway I would like see what
the Z16 can do, It has to be at least as thrilling as the Vert. See ya on

This will be a good one! I cant wait to get back up into those mtn roads. I think we have a nice route picked out. It will make for a great day of driving with some great people.

I will be there

Don’t forget to bring your 2 way radios if you have some. We should also have some printed maps for everyone this run.

I believe the route will be similar to one Skipsville suggested for the intrastate cruise. It looks like a good run when I mapped it out.

We are using the route skipsville suggested.

Here is a Google map link.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...22&ie=UTF8&z=9

From Blairsville, GA Take US Hwy 129/19 south eight miles to GA Hwy 180. Turn left (east) on 180 for seven miles to the Hwy 180 Spur up to Brasstown Bald - the highest point in GA at 4,784 feet above sea level. The spur is three miles of twisties up to the top where you can tour the overlook, or turn around and come back down to Hwy 180. Back at Hwy 180 from the spur, turn left (east) six miles to Hwy 17. Turn right (south) 11 miles toward Helen. At Robertstown (just outside Helen) turn right (south) on Hwy 75 for two miles to GA Hwy 348 (Richard Russell Scenic Hwy) for 16 miles. This will take you back to GA Hwy 180.

Then turn left (west) for two miles to Hwy 129/19. Turn left (south) on 129/19 for approx. 12 miles over Blood Mtn. Then turn right (south) on Hwy 19 at Turner's Corner for five miles to junction of Hwy 19 and GA Hwy 60. Turn right on Hwy 60 and proceed north for seven miles through Suches to Hwy 180 (again). Turn right for 12 miles and go over Wolfpen Gap back to US Hwy 129/19. Turn left for 10 miles back to Blairsville.
