Default what radar detector for Florida

Hope this is the right forum to post this in. Did a search and didn't find anything talking about the best radar detectors. I need a dash mount deal and I see the bell sti driver is rated highly. But the V1 seems to do laser better? Are there any others to consider? I'm not sure what radar they use down in florida. i'm guessing laser?

I am on the intersate all the time as I travel all of Florida and S. Georgia for a living. I don't see much laser at all. Seems it is all radar. I have a V1 which does a great job alerting me whenever radar is being used.

Default Escort's Passport X50

I've used Escort's Passport X50 for the past 3.5 years and have not been ticketed since .

When I first got my Vette I got two tickets in as many months, speeding at 45 in a 35, and a 65 in a 55 zone; this was after 10 years of being ticket free riding around in my Dodge Caravan. Some say the two tickets was due to the color of my Vette . Since getting the Passport X50 I get alerted to any radar that's turned on in the area with enough time to check my speed.

Just my 2¢.

so laser really is a waste for florida? I was kinda thinking I might get that passport 9500CI with built in laser jammer but most of the laser jammers I see don't seem to work that well. They say the laser interceptor is a scam.

Maybe I just go with a passport 9500 and be done with it.

Default Oh yea!

It's not a waste if you're in South Florida. My second ticket was a trooper using a laser on I-95 in Miami .

I've been hit with laser on I-75 just north of the Turnpike almost everytime I drive that route. My V-1 has saved me a few times.

Remember when you turn on the radar detector don't forget to turn on your common sense....with both of them you should be okay

yea, I'm really debating going the passport 9500CI route. But its damn pricey. What happens when they come out with a new unit in a year? 1600 down the drain?

Sad thing is I always used a radar detector and for a little bit had a couple of real radar jammers until they got stolen. I took them out so I wouldn't speed and haven't really sped in years and this stupid cop gives me a ticket going 81 on 95. Now I'm gonna get a radar detector and end up driving faster.
