Hey guys I am putting together an outing at Lake Anna State Park on Sunday afternoon July 13th starting around 12:30. This morning I made a reservation for a shelter that is right near the shore line.
There are a couple of charcoal grills there that we could use for hamburgers and hot dogs and the shelter is only about 200 yards from the swimming area. The swimming area does have changing rooms so if anyone decides to swim they wouldn't have to worry about wet clothing in the car.
We could meet in Fredericksburg and cruise down to the park as a group or if you are coming in from the west you could just meet us at the park.
I hope this gives everyone enough lead time to fit it into their schedule. Please make other Vette owners that you know aware of this event and if you belong to a local club please invite them to attend as well. The shelter can accomodate 100 people so we can handle a fairly large group.
Here is a link to the website for Lake Anna State Park
Here is a description of the shelter from the park's website.
Shelter #2 (small): The shelter is a 40' x 20' framed tent so there are no poles in the center and the sides are open. No cement floor. The vinyl top has large green and white stripes. There are eight picnic tables and two pedestal grills (charcoal). The shelter can seat 50 people at one time; a group of more than 50 but fewer than 100 can use the site, however people will need to bring lawn chairs. Erecting additional tents is not permitted. Bringing additional tables and grills is discouraged. Parking space is adequate but on busy weekends it may be necessary to offload supplies and park in the beach area parking lot, which is approximately 200 yards away. The shelter is near the shoreline with a view of the lake between the boat ramp and swimming beach. The shelter is within Picnic Area A, and the general public uses the picnic tables and grills around this area. Restrooms are approximately 100 yards away. No electric outlets or water hydrants.
Sounds like fun Wayne, hopefully I will get my car back this week. Its been a real nightmare with insurance co. and also had some part delivery issues to the body shop from vendor. Cant believe its been over a month now, but will definitely try and make it to the Lake.
Wayne, I sent an email out to our club......you've already heard from John (glide) and I have one other confirmation (Sheila). I'm sure I'll have several more by the end of the week.........
Are we all bringing our own stuff to eat, or are we covered dishing it?
Thanks....this is a great idea!

Val,
This is where I need input from everyone. I am leaning towards having everyone bring what they wanted to eat and drink. That way we don't end up with several of the same things or things that not everyone wants to eat.
I am planning on bringing a couple bags of charcoal so that would be taken care of.

At our parties, we supply the meat and beverages and ask everyone to bring a covered dish.
PS Our party is July 5 but I live on a gravel road

Here is how we will do this.
I have already rented the pavillion area and I will provide charcoal for the grills, paper plates, napkins, plastic silverware, and cups.
Then everyone can bring their own main course and a side dish to share. Each person should also bring their own beverages (keep this park rule in mind: The public display or use of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.)
