Default Overnight In Memphis - Where to Stay?

I am picking up my 08 from the NCM early next month and driving directly to Memphis that evening to visit Graceland the next day. Looking for a safe place to stay overnight. I have been told that the Germantown part of Memphis should be safe for the vette overnight. Looking at the Marriott Residence Inn and the Hilton Homewood Suties in Germantown, but leaning towards the Marriott.

Anyone have any comments or recommendations on either of these motels, or other thoughts? What about parking in Graceland. Being from California this is probably our only opportunity to visit Graceland, which my wife is really looking forward to. That's the least I can do for her for supporting my purchase of the new 08.

Thanks,

Gene...

Honestly, I would stay at the new Hilton Garden Inn in Southaven, MS just south of the airport. You can be at Gracelend in about 10-15 minutes from there. IM me if you need any more info. You could also stay downtown at a few places. Germantown is too far away.

I just spent a night in Memphis. I know there are several decent hotels. There is a Hampton Inn right near Beale Street. Don't stay at the Marriott near the Convention Center on N. Main. It is not close to anything but bad neighborhoods.

Thanks for your responses. I think I have narrowed it down to:

1) Homewood Suites by Hilton on Wolf River Road
or
2) Residence In by Marriott on Poplar Pike

Any comments on either of these two places?

Thanks in advance

I would stay at the casinos.

The Horseshoe has a parking garage.

Overnight in Memphis with a new 08?

Used to travel there on business often. I've stayed at both the Homewood and Residence in G'town. Either is okay with safe parking but my choice was Homewood on later visits. Graceland area is much more of an issue. Careful there.

Default Stay away from staying near Graceland!!

Gene,

I would not recommending staying near Graceland. My suggestions would be either hotels (Homewood and Residence) in Germantown. I live about 10 minutesfrom them. The area is a safer area than any hotels in the downtown area. Let me know if I can help with anything. I can come have a cold one with you....

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,
Thanks for your offer. Would you mind standing guard with my vette overnight? I do appreciate your comments and your offer. I'll let you know about a cold one once we firm things up.

Gene,

I would be EXCITED to "stand" guard of the new vette... Just be sure to leave me the FOB so I can get away if I have too.....

Keep me posted,
Tim
