I believe there are several wineries in this area that could be stopped at before or in place of the Skyline drive. However, I do not know how large of a group they could accommodate.
Thanks wkid!
We are indeed looking at any and all alternatives, and your input is very much appreciated! Welcome aboard, and I can't wait to see the 08!

However, I honestly think it's time for a change. Change in location, change in routine......something! I know that's an easy challenge to make and not an easy one to solve. But I have gone on 4 cruises in 3 years and there isn't really much in the way of variety with these trips.

I realize there is only so much you can do on Skyline Drive and that road never changes (Thank God!) but it sure would be interesting to do something besides go to Stony Man and take a picture and then go to lunch somewhere (I have 4 Stony Man pictures and I can't tell any of them apart). I really did enjoy the one year (cant recall which) where we started the cruise with a little parade thru "downtown" Front Royal with a police escort. That was ! Kind of reminded me of Carlisle

I don't have any answers at the moment, but maybe we can get the collective creative juices flowing and think "outside the box" as the saying goes. Maybe it's just me, but I was talking with someone Saturday at Stony Man about Carlisle and he said he wasn't going this year because it's become the same thing every year. I had to agree with him!

Anyway, great job and great turn out

As I've suggested before, Civil War Battlefields might be an interesting alternative. God knows there's enough of them in Virginia, West Va., Maryland and Pennsylvania that we could go years without a repeat. I guess the challenge would be to pick a meeting place and an interesting route that would appeal to day trippers. Even an occasional overnighter might be fun. I think it's worth considering.

Thank you all who work so hard to keep this tradition alive.
