Default [Event] Spring Skyline 5/12/07

It's that time of year again! This years Spring Skyline Drive Corvette Cruise will be held on Saturday, may 12, 2007. This is a departure from our normal date but hopefully will get us into some better weather.

This year's cruise will again benefit Blue Ridge Hospice. http://www.blueridgehospice.org/

Cruise registration is $10.00 per car.

An $8.00 non-refundable pre-registration may be sent to:

Jim Strathearn
PO Box 332
Shrewsbury, PA 17361

Please make your pre-registration check out to Blue Ridge Hospice.

We will be accepting pre-registrations through April 28, 2007.

We will be meeting at Jack Evans Chevrolet http://www.jechevy.com/ in beautiful downtown Front Royal, VA beginning at 8:30 AM. The cruise will depart for Skyline Drive at 10:30 AM. We will get the usual police escort through town, etc. Lunch will be at Brookside.

Here are the directions to Jack Evans:
http://www.jechevy.com/html/directions.htm#UsedCarLot

We have 20 rooms blocked at the Quality Inn, right across the street from Jack Evans. Call (540) 635-3161, tell them you are with the Corvette Club and you will get a discounted rate. Although the exact rate has not been nailed down yet, it should be $60.00 or less. If you have any problems when calling, ask for Roger.

Hope to see you all there!

I'm pretty sure that I'll have the fuel pump replaced by then so count me and the RedHead in! And if work decides they need to send me out of town again, I'll fake a heart attack!

Can I ask where Brookside is? If we leave Front Royal at 10:30, it must not be too far down the Drive.

Brookside is on US-211 in Luray. We do not go directly there from Front Royal. We make a few stops inside the park first.

Looking forward to the trip once again. Hope the weather cooperates and it dosen't rain all the way up like the fall. I'm sure Jamie will be bringing her blue blanket in case of cold (cool for the rest of us) temps.

Glad you all are coming again!
Make sure Jamie cuts her fingernails so that you don't have holes in your upholstery......remind her we'll be hitting Rt 211 again!

Can you describe what happens the day of the cruise? Where do you end up? Do people stay over Saturday night for the drive home Sunday?

On the morning of the cruise, we meet at the Jack Evans Used Car Lot, (registration beginning at 8:30), where we line all the vettes up in the parking lot. We have a drivers meeting around 9:30, and pull tickets for the door prizes, and then leave the lot (with a police escort through town in parade formation) around 10:30. We enter Skyline Drive, make stops at some overlooks, take a group picture at Big Stony Man outlook, and then depart the park for lunch close to Luray. Usually in the afternoon, participants are on their own to either go back in the park and explore, some go home, etc.
where we will visit in the park is still yet to be determined. We will do a few scouting runs before finalizing the plans.
Hope to see you there!
