Default Anyone in Caldwell Co (NC) or Lake Hickory area?

Looking for other Corvette folks in the Lake Hickory area. My wife and I are planning a future retirement place down there. With 80 degree temps outdoors last weekend, we saw a big showing of motorcycles all over, but not many Corvettes. Any Corvette clubs nearby or do you have to go to Charlotte to get involved with other Corvette people?

Also, what are car registartion fees like? Title, tags, annual taxes (county or state), etc.???

Thanks in advance,

I'm in the Hickory area as is forum member Daffy. There are others too. The club I belong to, (RCG) is indeed based in Charlotte. If there are closer ones, I don't know of them. They're a good group of fun loving folks though and I'm sure other members will be checking in. The property taxes in Catawba county aren't bad at all and Caldwell might even be less. No more though I'm sure. Example, my house is valued around $70K and taxes are only $300 and change per year. Plates took a jump this year but are still only $28. Title transfers can get a little pricey for very expensive cars but I've heard of much worse. Get in touch next time you're heading to the area, maybe we'll meet up.

They will hit you with a "use tax"which is 3.5% or their perceived value...It's a rip off, then you get an annual county tax bill on cars(another rip off) Caldwell tax is less than Catawba. So much for the bad news...Otherwise it's a pretty good place to be..Are you going to on the lake??
