[Event] Spring Skyline 4/29/06
Let me begin by saying how overwhelmed I have been by all the positive response about these Skyline cruises. Last year when we got involved with the permit thing I figured that it was time to pack it in. But it seems to be too much of a regular event for so many people that I figured I'd just either get some help or pass it along to someone else. So, here's the plan:
I am most pleased to announce that the Shenandoah Valley Corvette Club has stepped up to help with the cruises. They were not the only club to step up, and I appreciate all the other offers for help, but the folks from SVCC just seemed to be the best fit. Besides the fact that they are very local to Skyline Drive, they have offered to help take on these cruises AND keep them 100% charitable. Please feel free to check out their website - SVCC.
The permit issue is not yet resolved. However, there is something going on with it. I received a call today from a VA Congressman who's name I don't recall at the moment. (Left a message on my answering machine... I think his name is Wolf.) Anyway, he contacted me regarding the cruise and permit issue and I will return his call before the end of the week. I also heard some unconfirmed rumors about the permit from a local source in Front Royal and will find out the skinny on that before I say anything else... Having said all that, we will make this work one way or another. More details to follow...
So, mark your calendars for April 29, 2006 for the 2006 Hogs Memorial Skyline Drive Corvette Cruise. The beneficiary of this cruise will be Blue Ridge Hospice. We will meet at the used car lot of Jack Evans Chevy on Commerce Ave. in Front Royal. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and we will caravan out with a police escort at 10:30. Registration fee will be $10.00 per car. Pre-registration fee will be $8.00 per car and will have to be in my hands by April 22, 2006. You may send your pre-registration check or money order made out to Blue Ridge Hospice to:
Jim Strathearn
PO Box 332
Shrewsbury, PA 17361
I will use the name on the check or MO as the registration name.
Directions to Jack Evans Chevy can be found HERE. I will make arrangements with the Quality Inn again and will get back with that info as soon as it's firmed up.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pretty much ready to roll! Sound like a plan?

Also, the FALL Skyline Coverage by Corvette Enthusiast Magazine is in the May 2006 issue - going out this week (to subscribers) and will be on the stands soon
In addition to the Skyline Coverage, Jim Strathearn's high mile cruiser is in that very same issue - Check it out!

Me and the RedHead will be there! We had such a great time last fall that we're Skyline loyalists for life! Don't worry Chris, I'll make sure that she doesn't call you "sir" anymore!
