Ft. Myers area--hotel/motel suggestions please

My daughters are going to visit Florida Gulf Coast University next month and I need some lodging ideas please.

They are going up by themselves, so naturally we are looking for something in a nice area.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

p.s.
for someone not familiar to the Ft.Myers area, where about is the school located--Nice area? Close to the beach? Near I-75?

The campus is just south of the Ft Myers International Airport (RSW).
Not far from the nice beaches of Ft Myers, Sanibel, Captiva, etc. Many nice hotels in the area, just stay out of downtown Ft Myers.

Make sure you do not book a room at any Red Roof Inns. Once out of jail most convicts, sexual predators and offenders go there for temporary lodging. Bonita Springs at I-75 is very close to the beach. Or you can try North Naples. When attending school you never want to go south on I-75 in the morning from Fort Myers, because of the traffic. It gets very heavy and dangerous. Better to go North from Naples. The traffic although heavy is not as bad. Unless they are living on campus.
