Per Corvette Brand Quality Mrg. Corvettes built before 12/13/04 and VIN #s before5511039 will need to have the PI 3288A performed.
This info has not been released yet but is the correct window and will make print very soon. Manual or auto will make no difference they will will both need repaired

He will..... Just tell him to refer to PIP3288a (Jan 10,2005) They will need to contact TAC who will create a case# and will order a "crankshaft balancer and washer kit" GM doc ID# 1581394

My dealer couldn't find the PI but did bring it up under the document number 1581394. He said he has to verify the Julian date on the engine before ordering the kit. I explained that my car was built before the cut off date. He'll make some calls today and see if he can get the kit ordered without actually doing the physical inspection. He did verify that GM will authorize the fix upon receiving a customer complaint. Although I haven't had any problem and my serpentine looks new, I'll have the fix done just for peace of mind.
Thanks very much for posting this important bit of information.

Thank you for the info. It would be good to see some accountability for the problem. It will be nice to see them not wait for all the random failures that were bound to happen. Once the cars started being driven like Corvettes it was only a matter of time.

My thanks to:
Rancho Motors here in Victorville. The owner of the dealership John got personnally involved with my situation to make sure I was taken care of and I think a lot can be said for that.

Just got off the phone with my dealer, and he stated that nothing can be done at this time unless the crankcase pulley has failed. He stated that the TAC case is initiated only after a failure, and not prior.
I then call GM Customer Assistance, and they stated the same thing. Nothing will be fixed/replaced unless the crankcase pulley actually fails. They also stated that document numbers are issued as advisories. I’ve driven 2800 miles with no problems.

My C6 has a 01/10 TPW and 3844 VIN # and should be delivered shortly. According to this I assume I should be safe.
Where is the Julian date located on the engine block?

Ill have another conversation with my rep about the "hasta fail first" Dealer coment and see what we've got. In my case I will just order one and perform the repair.
Some Dealers are not as helpful and dont like customers who know info they dont.
At least I hope this helps
Also the julian date listed in the PI is 341. If the engine is 341 or later it has the special washer. I will research the julian date info and post later today

Burning Brakes
I just got back from my dealer for the first (free) oil change at 1100 miles. The service manager knew nothing about this, but while they were servicing my car, he later said that he found the information and has ordered four kits for the first four C6s they sold. He told me mine would be the first. HOWEVER...I have hammered this car on a few occasions, have marked the bolt and see no problems at all, therefor I am reluctant to have this service done.

Hmmm, My car was built 12/09 but the VIN is 55111250. So I wonder if it falls into the "needs to be corrected" catagory or not?
Did you happen to miss a 1 in the vin list?
