Couldn't afford to pay those kind of prices. Glad I locked in with Warranty Direct at this point - much cheaper and a zero deductible.

This tells you how much Chevy thinks of its own products and the likelihood that you will have to use its warrantees....GREAT PR BONEHEADS

I believe that the rate increase is not necessarily related to the reliability of the Corvette but is more likely the result of 2 years of zero percent interest rates on new cars. New car pricing is profitable, financing is really profitable.
This rate increase is simply a "tweak" to bring up the bottom line for GM.

I'm sure you know but in case you dont..... GMPP is really just an insurance company contracted by GM (maybe they own it I dont know for sure) to insure/warranty cars. GMPP hates vettes period, I actually had an adjuster for them tell me that.
The vettes are expensive to fix and GMPP pays out on them like a big dog when they do pay, they try to dodge as much as they can of course.
I do know GM charges them a hefty price to replace vette parts just like they do us so thats why I personally think GM does not own the GMPP warranty company but just contracts with them to use the name GM. Anyone have any for sure info on this?

GM dealers make alot of noise about how GMPP is the only warranty to use because there is no paperwork for the customer and you are in and out with no hassle. When I mentioned Another brand I got this stern speech that your car would be tied up while they were trying to get approval for a repair and then the line," the car doesn't leave here until we get paid".

I purchased Warranty Direct at the end of my warranty and have been very satisfied with the responsiveness of the company. Had a tranny pinion seal leak and they worked with the dealer and took care of it. If they jack up prices that high they will loose business.... end of story!

Not to cast doubt on your numbers here, but it looks an awful lot
like there is a quote for two cars...Not one.
Looks like ~20% increase (which could be what the dealers were
warning about), times 2.
I haven't seen Ken Fitchner join the thread. Maybe he can confirm.

Ok everyone I owe all an apology for incorrect information. My source that provided the infor selected a Hummer instead of a corvette when he sent me the prices. Basically it looks like prices went up approx. $100.00 above the prices prior to 1/1/05. Again my humble apologies for getting all of our shorts bunched up!

FWIW- Warranty Direct sent me an email today stating that the quote they gave me last summer is still good.
