My first dyno numbers what do you think
I have a 99 FRC with twin flow k & n air intake, high flow carbon fiber air intake duct with coupler, Performance fog light covers to allow air to the intake, corsa cat-back exhaust system and a throttle body by pass tube. I love the car its fast but like most of us always want more, so I brought my car to the nearest Dynojet dyno to get a baseline of howmuch horsepower I was putting to the pavement. My horsepower was 323.92 and torque was 328.50 . I was wondering if this is to low for the mods i have or what any input would be great.

Im just gonna be honest here.....
Too me it seems just right too slightly low....
My bone stock a4 put down 299 rwhp and 309 rwt sae corrected on a dynojet.....
Your beating me by 24 rwhp.....
1- you got a manual...15% vrs my 18 % drive train loss...+9 rwhphp
2-air intake and coupler....+ 10 rwhp
3-cat back exhaust and throttle body bypass tube....+ 7 rwhp
9+10+7= 26 rwhp
26 rwhp minus 5 rwhp for not having LS6 intake manifold on your 99 vrs m 04....
Brings you to a total of 21 rwhp......
Considering that you have 3.42's vrs my 2.73's and no LS6 intake manifold, Id say that Im gonna take back my origional statement and sAy that.....
YOUR NUMBERS ARE ACTUALY PRETTY GOOD FOR WHAT YOU GOT....

Thanks for the info, I dont feel so dissapionted anymore but LGmotorsport headers without cats are on the way to pick up the anti alittle. I would also like to get an underdrive pulley but not sure what brand to go with for max hp. and I have not had it tuned but will do so after the header install.

My 99 MN6 coupe with a LS6 lid and Corsa Indy's dyno'd in at 292 RWHP on a Mustang. I understand Mustang Dyno's are a little more restrictive than a DynoJet so I'm guessing all things being equal I would be at 300 RWHP. That's just about spot on for a 345 HP LS1. Your numbers actually seem a little strong based on all the C5's I've been associated with over the years.
Tom
PS: I just found the last dyno pull on my 99 after installing a Blackwing smooth air bridge coupler and FLP LT headers, high flow cats and their X-pipe. I still had the Indy's. 325 RWHP was the best I could muster. So I have to say your numbers are VERY strong or the dyno was very optimistic.

Nah- my bone stock A4, 2.73 made 321. I'd say 299 is about right- my car on the other hand is a freak of nature...a Wed built car.
And to back it up, I dynoed it again about 3 months later after the addition of the MTI ram air and Borla cat back and picked up 6hp- 327rwhp.

But then again some of the #'s that come out of Texas are phenominal!

Did you run that freak of nature at the track? Cause if on par with the #'s your bone stock A4 2.73 should have run mid 12's off the showroom floor which is unheard of.

Sorry to hijack your post....
Why is a cold air intake with smooth couple not worth 10 rwhp???? Thats only 12 extra crank HP....
Is that too low or two high by your knowledge....
I think that is a pretty safe estimate...But please inform e if Im wrng and Why...
Right between 5-15 rwhp....
People have reported gaining 6-10 rwhp on the dyno from just the free mod....
So whas wrong with 10 rwhp as an estimate.....
I also agree that my a4 w/ 2.73 is dynoing a litle high at 299 rwhp..
Even the guys at the shop asked me if I was sure it wasnt modded....
They showed me the dyno from a bone stock 02 mn6 that dynoed 302 rwhp SAE corrected the day prior..
So yea my numbers are pretty good.....Guess I got lucky...
The car has run several 13.5's at 103 mph at a DA of 1300 or more...
Cut one 13.5 in 85 degrees...
So she is slightly quicker than stock since in 60 degree weather Id be around 13.3 at 104..
Compared to the average 13.4-13.6 most run stock in good conditions...
But I only got an extra 10 rwhp..... And an extra tenth...She's no freak...
Sorry for thehigh jacking and like I posted earlier Good results..

My 99 FRC on a dynojet dyno at LAPD came in at 326 RWHP & 329 RWTQ. That is with a 02 Z06 airbox lid, K&N filter panel, Magnaflow exhaust, and a tune. With only the airbox lid and paper filter, no dyno tune it came in at 320 RWHP & 323 RWTQ.

Numbers in Houston especially seem to be higher than anywhere else. My 12.71 1/4 mile would be about 12.3 in Houston

My buddy's 99FRC dyno'd about 320 with a tune & similar mods to yours. He had an underdrive pulley, but also 4.10 gears. I think your numbers are pretty good. As for needing 400 HP to put down 320, that's way off. Some of the lowest bone stock Z06 dyno numbers are in the 350rwhp range. Let us know what you gain with the new mods. Scott
