Default Anyone Heard

Has anyone heard anything about if they are making progress checking the cars that are stuck with the MN6 tranny's? I was hoping they would work on the NCM cars first.

They said they were going to work on those with NCM delivery first and that they were going to work all weekend.

I'm sure they'll update those expecting NCM delivery soon.

It wont be a quick process im afraid. Expext at least a 2 week delay on the built hold cars before the are shipped.

I wonder how many cars the NCM delivers a week? I have a date of 10/20 to pick up. Hopefully they can get the Vin's of the cars to be delivered that week or what an expense it will be for customers.

I too have / had a NCM delivery date of 10/15 so I understand the problem. From what I have been told, the problem with getting to the NCM cars is that the built cars are in side by side rows and if your car is in the middle of that, they can't get to it until those rows are worked. If you are lucky enough to be on an end.......well maybe.

As much as I hate the additional delay, this unfortunately makes sense.

I just spoke with Judy at the NCM. She told me that they did give Allied the list of Vins for the up coming delivery's and they are trying to get those cars done first. They will have an update tomorrow or Wed.

They are doing a great job keeping us informed.

has your car been released to Allied? I thought the cars didn't get released until after the inspection and / or repair at the plant.

I don't think it was released. What Judy said is they submitted the Vins to Allied for the NCM deliverys so they can process them once they get them. My car was invoiced to the deaer today. It came off the line last Thursday, the day the problem happened. Hopefully it is not buried in the pack of cars and can be checked for my scheduled delivery.

I just found out my car was released to Allied....Judy was going to check with them and let me know....sounds good for all of us! Evidently they got a lot of the cars inspected over the weekend. It's about time we all had good news.

I spoke with Kevin at the plant FRIDAY. He said that there were more like HUNDREDS, as opposed to, dozens of 6spds to be checked. Most were checking out OK, but a few needed tranny replacement. I think he said they found 26 already that were bad. He told me that it would take DAYS, not weeks to go through them all and correct the problem. They worked through the weekend. Sounds like they need to test drive them all in 5th gear to see if there's a problem. I didn't ask how many workers were doing this. They have a truckload of new trannies, at hand, if needed. I didn't ask how long it would take to replace a tranny. My VIN #4997 is there to be checked. I hope to get more of an update, later today.
Better fixed there, than here, in Podunk, USA!
Here's hoping my delivery doesn't go past 10/29th, my promised delivery date.

I called Kevin this morning, and despite all best intentions, he could tell me nothing. Car has been produced and no one knows if it is in yard, Allied etc. How is it that UPS can tell me the staus of an 8 ounce package on an hourly basis anywhere in the US, and GM can't tell me about a 3200 pound car that is within walking distance of their location??

Kevin told me Friday, that I would have to contact Allied, for further updates, re VIN 4997.

Allied today can only tell me "It's on hold".

Maybe the fact that UPS didn't find hundreds of those 8 ounce packages with quality control problems has something to do with it. Also, that UPS is not responsible at all for the quality of those 8 ounce packages.

But GM could stand a better system.

My Vin is 5072 and I hope I am close to yours. I am sure these cars were not buried in the pack. Does anyone have the number to Allied?

Congrats

The UPS comment has nothing to do with finding a quality problem. It has all to do with GM, one of the largest companies in the world, having a system where, at the very least a dealer could figure out the status of a ca they are selling. It ain't rocket science......
