Have not had the rear hatch switch problem. Had a few other occasional "one of a kind" glitches. Figured most were caused by operator error.
For example, I had gotten into a habit of hitting the start switch...I mean just touching it and releasing....then using my right hand to click my seat belt. The engine would actually begin to start AFTER my hand left the Start switch and sometimes I was quick enough to show off and make it look like the car was firing up in reaction to the seat belt being fastened. Yesterday though, when doing this maneuver, the engine only "bumped" but did not start...like a bad battery. It did this a couple of times until I held the button down (as the manual says) and the car started fine.
Generally, all is now well with my C6.
I am still learning and enjoying the car.

Trunk release button problem
I just had the same thing happen to me. I tried what Biggator6 suggested, pushing the plug down, and it works. I think the plug is not seated correctly and gets loose over time. I'll have the dealer check it on my next service.

Last night, a bunch of us Corvette owners went out to dinner. When we got to the restaurant, one C6 vert owner put his top up and then tried to open the trunk. He tried the dash switch, the FOB and the button over the license plate. None would open the trunk. I took his key and opened the trunk. After they put their stuff in the trunk and closed it, it still wouldn't open using the buttons.
A couple of hours later, when we were getting ready to leave the restaurant, he tried the FOB, from about 25-30 feet away, and it opened,

I couldn't find my original response to this thread, I guess it is too old. However the switch can be accessed by removing the tail light, it just clips in. Once removed you can take the cap off and clean the dirt out of the switch. This is most likely the cause of your problem.
I had pictures in the original thread (I think been awhile) I'll see if I can find where I hosted the pics.

Thank you very much
Very old thread.
Anyway, here's a detailed DIY fix with lots of photos:

If you're asking about a hatch release button on a C6 coupe, it's a button just above the rear license plate. You must have a fob near the button, otherwise you can put the fob key in the keyhole also above the rear license plate.

The pics in Talon90's post above are gone due to the Photobucket restrictions. Here is a PDF that KnobJockey posted and I thought it would be cool to add it here.
