my clear turn signals and pics
i did mine last night.
i followed C5 frederick's instructions on how to cut them apart, etc. i bought this
from home depot, a huge sheet for like 5 or 6 bucks.
u can see the grid pattern almost perfectly matches the stock front pattern. for those of you who dont know, when u remove the amber portion, the outside perfectly flat clear panel is what is left, allowing u to see inside the housing. no texture or nothing. amazing this pattern blends so well to make the thing appear to be the same material and pattern all the way from the front to the side. the bulb is blueish/silverish inside but its one of the silverstar bulbs that illuminates bright amber. i wanted to stick with amber because C5's are so easily recongnizable with the amber DRLs so far apart and low to the ground. anyway, heres another pic
all in all, was easy project. hard part was removing them, i took the bolts and spring that hold them in out from the top side by reaching down behind the headlamp (after removing the black shroud thing and raising the lights manually). i had to remove 5 10mm bolts under the frt outside spoiler pieces and the close out panel to get enuf room to wiggle it out, and i did this w/ the car on the ground but ramps would be much easier. also i used some clear LED 194 bulbs for the side marker portion that is now clear and these bulbs illuminate amber. i think it looks pretty good for not bad money. most expensive was the 25 bucks for the silverstar bulbs, only other stuff i had to have was the large light panel from home depot, the silicone, small LED bulbs, and a dremmel with a bunch of cut off discs as i kept breaking them haha.
$25 for bulbs.
$6 for clear light panel
$2 silicone
$8 LED 194's (cheaper online than at pepboys haha, oh well i was in a hurry)
oh and i used the portions of plastic i cut off to silicone back in place so i didnt have to use any additional plastic to seal the hole i cut.

Awesome, something I definately want to do. Using the office light diffusor has been a trick on alot of import cars (ie, ford probe front turns, nissan maxima rear signals) except that the pattern almost never matched, but I see for the c5 it does. Excellent.
Another thing- you can buy the heavy duty reinforced cutting discs for the dremel. Do you have a pic of the rear side to show exactly how you cut the lights? Thanks.

ericdwong, i never knew about the import world using the diffusors as well, i had a hyundai tiburon but all we did on those was heat teh housing adn pull it apart and remvoe the amber piece leaving that shiny chrome "diamond back" look to the inside...
as far as pics go for the rear, look at the other thread on this topic for C5 frederick's instructions, i followed his to a T.

not to change the subject (nice work) but how did you change the fricken DRL bulb ??? Mine is out and I cannot get to it from the brake intake (moving the plastic) nor from the top (removing the black headlamp surround). I can reach the little 194 .... but gave up and suspected a warranty repair for Saturday morning.

the DRL/turn signal bulb is right beside the 194 bulb. only difference is the 194 goes in from the back, the DRL goes in from the bottom, but if u can get the 194, the DRL is easier because the 194 is actually farther away. should take 2 seconds to reach in and remove it.

This is the exact same material I bought a few weeks back but haven't gotten around in doing mine yet. I keep getting sent on the road for work.
