Default Reduced Pulleys (anyone using them)

Anyone using resized pulleys to free up Hp? If so, what do you think? Impact on AC, Alt, water pump, etc...

Sometimes that will cause the alt to turn too slow at idle and the lights will go dim, there are some kits avail with underdrive crank and w/p with overdrive alt to counter it. Your w/p will turn slower so that might cause heat issue at idle also.

Default Dont slow down water pump

It will run hotter, and may lose more power than gained. If you spin your motor well past 6000 and have low rear gears it may be worth slowing down alt to save the bearings. Auto electrician will have suitable pulleys no need for aftermarket "speed" parts.

ditto the comment on alternators. I had no problem with underdrive on water pump.

yeah, if your alternator is on the way out or weak the pulelys will only make the problem worse, same for cooling problems.

I use a Canton (oil pans) bottom pulley with my stock LT-1 deep groove pulleys to reduce the water pump drive to about 100% of crank speed (its 125-140% meaning faster than crank speed with the stock lower pulley.) Here is a link to their web site, I think the quality is second to none! (stay far away from cheap non-hard annodized JUNK!)
