Starting problems : (
I have a 77 4sp that has difficulty starting when cold. When it's warmed up, it starts right up. But when it's cold, I have to use starter fluid to get it going. Once it starts, it runs a little rough at first, but will idle without dying.
I don't know much yet about engines and carbs, but is there an adjustment I can make or any other ideas? I haven't done any engine work since I bought it last summer, just rebuilt the front suspension and replaced the power steering, but I took a look at a spark plug and it was pretty dirty.
Thanks guys.

It has a common problem with almost all Rochesters, that is that it leaks all of the gas out over time. Next time before you do anything, pump the pedal eight or ten times quickly and then hit the starter. It should start.

How is your choke?I would ck to see if you are getting 12v to the choke with the key turned to the on position.also you can adjust the choke to be a little richer upon start up and see if that helps
