Questions??? Help please!!
Ok, so i cant get the damn bushings out of my a-arms, so it has been recommended that i burn them out! anyone done this? And what happened to the achived stuff, i need that step by step that lars posted! I need to know how i get the springs back in, and the riveted ball joints out, and how to put the new bushings in. The other thing is that a guy said that i had to press the new bushings in, i didnt thing i needed to do this.
And here is the good stuff, just ordered a short 383 stroker, what do you think the compression would be with 62 cc heads, i guessed 10.5:1, but im up for opinions.

I used an air hammer with a chisel type implement to remove the bushings. It was very loud, and took a long time, but they came out nicely with no damage to the A arms.
I don't recall exactly how I got them back in, (its been 10 years), but I did not use a vice.
I removed the ball joint rivets with a grinder very carefully so as to not damage the A-arm.
The spring went back in with the help of a jack at the very end of the A-arm.
I am not attempting at all to replace Lar's info (I am sure his is much better), but until the archives comes back, at least my post brought you ttt.
Good luck - JME

Drifting
Just use an air hammer with a chisel. Mine came out extremely easy. I wasnt able to install new bushings myself, so I took them bushings and A-arms to a hot rod shop with a press. It took about an hour and cost $60. Money well spent to not have bent A-arms or the frustration of not being able to put them in myself.

Melting Slicks
If your going to use Polybushings you can use the old shells and just remove the old rubber. So i was told anyway. I belive that a appropriate holesaw will do the job

I got the rubber out by drilling a series of 1/8 inch holes around the perimeter and then digging the rubber out with an awl.
