Default How do I find?

Recently I sprang a leak somewhere and lost all of my trans fluid. I am trying to figure out where the leak is, but not sure how. I jacked the car up and cleaned the whole bottom of the engine compartment, because it was everywhere. Does anyone have any easy ideas to see where the leak is?(without cranking the car up and possibly having the same "splatter" problem)
Thanks
Steve

Hmmm. A bit of Sherlock Holmes required here. I have to assume you have an automatic transmission. If you've found tranny fluid in the engine compartment, look for a trans fluid leak where the transmission fluid lines enter the radiator.

Default Transmission leak

Check where the dip stick tube goes into the transmission, a lot of times the o ring goes bad and the transmission will leak like a sieve. Also as mentioned look at the cooler lines from the transmission to the radiator.

If it's in the engine compartment, then it is likely the rubber lines at the radiator.
Also, check where the steel lines go under the front crossmember.
There is a metal clip that holds them up. It is a likely place for
rubbing and rusting.

Assuming you have been driving mostly forward since the leak ocured, then the leak will most likely be at or slightly behind where the fluid "mess" began due to the forward movement/inertia throwing the fluid backwards. If the fluid is up front look at the trans lines going to/from the radiator. If farther back then look at that point.

Good Luck!
