I currently have the stock 2—into—1—into—2 exhaust on my ’78 and am looking to change that to true duals. I am wondering if any of you have tried an undercar chambered exhaust like http://www.madvet.com/-/shop?part=4.36.1293.603850. I know a lot of you have chosen to go with side pipes, but I’m not sure that is a look I want to go for.

What do you think of the linked setup?

How loud should I expect a system like this to be?

What are other configurations you have on your car?

I am new at this so any advice is appreciated.

My 72 LT-1 has Allen's aluminzed steel chambered exhaust and I love it. It makes a sound similar side pipes (a kickback to the muscle car sounds of yesteryear). I keep meaning to record and post an audio or video file so people can judge for themselves if the sound is right for them, but my 12-week old first child keeps me busy otherwise lately.

I just put it on my 75 a few weeks ago and I love it. It does have a slight drone between 1100 and 1400 RPM but I don't spend too much time in that range. I don't think that it is too loud for normal use although is is definitely louder than stock. It has a great bark when you stand on it and the brappling that it does when you decelerate is to die for. It makes my car sound a lot meaner than it really is.

Within the next month I will be uninstalling my mint condition Madvet chambered system and I will sell it to you for a very fair price

It only has 1000 miles on it - I am going with headers/sidepipes

I live in Ashburn so there would be zero shipping costs to mess with also..

I have a set of chambered pipes on true duals and it sounds AWESOME, its got that nice low down rumble at idle, but when you step on it, it sounds like a beast. I could hear my brother coming home from 3 blocks away,you wont regret the switch

Installtion is easy and the sound is awesome. You'll be happy with the set up. Nice throaty sounds.

I've got the MAD chambered pipes as well and love the sound...well worth it

I have the MAD Chambered exhaust on my 74. I get complements on the sound everytime im out.

I've got a set of the MAD duals on my 79 that runs from the stock exhaust manifolds back. The installation was EASY after I took the time to figure out which part went where (the MAD set I used did not come with instructions !) Under normal acceleration, the exhaust is loud up to 45MPH then quietens down to a respectible level enough to hear the stereo. Under hard acceleration it is very loud. I've enjoyed mine so far.

I'm really interested in putting on a chambered system on mine. Does no one have a audiofile or movie with their car and a chambered system so I could hear what it really sounds like?

Do you guys think I should take the opportunity to add headers as well?

My question is do the pipes bottom out and hit the ground at all? I installed an Allens true duals on my 75 and I am not happy with the fit. They hit the ground under the rear spring if I hit a dip in the road.

Corz had a video floating around the other day of his car with them. His car sounded pretty mean with the chambered system. I believe he has a decently-modded enigne though.

I'm going to blow the $300 and get them for my car. I hear they are not that great for performance, but better than the stock 2 - 1 - 2 setup.

when you stomp on it LOUD,, other than that a healthy rumble that can get annoying on a highway run,, i had my entire systen(the same your lookin at gettin) jet coated inside and out and i can definately tell the difference,, it flows better and seems more responsive
