Default Heat - what works ?

I recently picked up a stock C-3 needing very little work, but it sure gets hot inside (AC not working). What can be done to eliminate / reduce the internal heat. Do the insulation kits for the floorboard and tran-y work?

Welcome to the insanity!

Yes, insulating the floor/tranny tunnel will help. Also check out this link for more info on sealing off the passengers compartment from engine heat.

The other thing you can do is to add a shutoff valve on the inlet heater hose to turn off the hot water flowing thru the heater core during warm weather.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Just a follow-up : The passenger vent door - gasket was trash. Although I could not find a replacement, I took a piece of 3mil foam, cut a circle about 3/8 in larger than the door and glued it to the out side. This worked great, and sealed off the hot air coming in. I also found that the gear shift boot was needed replacement. Found a genaric boot at the auto store and replaced it. Now that these two areas are sealed off, it lowered the temp quite a bit.
