Default what is the minimum power requirement for a compressor to drive an impact gun?

I just got hold of an old compressor for free. It is an electric unit with 1/2 horsepower and 100psi max. Manual also says 2cfm @40psi. Can this little compressor drive an impact wrench?

Most air tools operate in the 5-8 cfm range, with impact wrenches needing the highest amount and Paint guns coming in a close second. Unfortunately 2 cfm will only aggrevate you as soon as you crack the trigger. Sears, Home Depot and Lowes carries compressors that are moderately priced and will supply the required cfm. But you sure can't beat the free price of the one you already have. Good Luck, Marc

You could hook up a second tank. the comp. won't keep up
but it will give more time before it looses the battle. Once you
have air in the garage, you will love it. Just a blow
gun is worth it. My favorite, the cut off tool.

I just purchased a little 2hp with an 8 gallon tank. I wish I had the money for a larger one, but it works great for blowing the dirt. I am cleaning the frame and coating it with POR-15. It would have been tough without it.
