Default 72 wiper door problem

My car was a former basket case and I am having problems with the wiper door. think there are some adjustment screws missing to space it off the windshield. Anyone have any pics of how the whole mess works? :mad

There should be a screw with a nut at each upper end of the wiper linkage. Adjust this screw in or out until the wiper door is flush with the top of fender and the screw is resting firmly against the stop. Tighten nut. You might also have to adjust the attachment points of the linkage to the firewall by adding shims. An AIM for your year car should provide a clear pic of how the wiper assembly is installed.

I see the holes for the screws, but there are no screws. It appears that the screws would hit the windshield for how the assembly fits. Is this the case? Are they special screws with rubber caps?

There should be some plastic wedge stops riveted to the metal cowl area of the lower windshield. The wiper linkage adjustment screws should rest against them.

Thanks. I'll check for the stops tomorrow. If I ever get a hold of the guy who took this apart . . .
