Default qjet pros. question.

It looks like I have a mangled secondary air valve adjustment spring.

Are one of these included in a rebuild kit?

If I remove the butterflies, does the rod just slide out.

I am goint to consult my manuals.

Insite and expirenses are welcome.

here is a pic of what Ive done.
1.unscrewed the butterflies and removed the rod.
2.removed the hex screw that tightened the adjustment screw.
3. removed the adjust ment screw. I started it with a screwdriver then pulled it all the way out with small pliers.
4. you can see the mangled mess of a spring to the right of the airhorn.
5.hope I can pic one of these springs up.

It doesn't usually come in a rebuild kit. I've had good luck ordering from http://www.carbs.net

thanks for the tip.

The horn gasket was stiff. I bought the rebuilt kit anyway. So Im in the middle of the rebuild.

overall the carb was in great shape. just a bit of grease and some gas from leaky gaskets. jets, rods float and bowl show very little varnish.

hope to have good news soon.

Took the qjet base to my neighbor. He is a machinist at an autopart chain. I asked him if he could remove the idle jet plugs.
He questioned me and asked about the chisel marks.
I returned with the hayes manual and the shop manual. He was dumbfounded that they needed to be chiseled out.
His specialty is late 60's early 70's olds'.

Ill be ready to assemble once the base is back. He said he might even have a few qjet parts laying around somewhere!
