Do You Ever Just Take A Brake From Corvettes?
Getting a Chromed AC A6 Compressor just about did me in on Corvettes. Installed three that leaked.
Then had to wait weeks for a Sanden 508 and go through all kinds of fabrication problems to make it work.
Just got sick of banging my head against the wall, so put the car cover on it and forgot about Corvettes for a few weeks.
Does this ever happen to you?
EDIT: Obviously, I meant "break."

Sometimes putting a cover on it is a good idea, I have never done that though in the 9 years I have owned mine. I just work on it on weekend and it is put away all winter which helps, also been lucky enough to have solved the problems that come up before they send me round the bend

Truthfully I haven't driven my car since June.
Plus my wifes "new" 1985 Porsche Targa is just so much fun to cruise in. And it can hold all 3 of us. And we don't need ear plugs to ride in it. And it gets double digit gas milage.
 Can I say Porsche here??

yes.....drive train(rear) is such a pain
but when you get back to it and pull the cover off
you say that is a cool car
and pick right up where you left off.

Oh yeah, Sometimes when things are't going well or work is overpowering I have to sit back for a few weeks and look at something else for awhile. But I always come back to the Vette after awhile of non use.

yeah, when the paint was stripped and the bodywork wasn't going well and the temps were near 100 degrees back in '98-'99 I had to take a break. Farmed the bodywork out, and when I got it all back painted I had ACed my garage and it came back together beautifully.
Right now, my break from the Corvette has been to find a replacement for the fragged original block, and work on my house to possibly sell.
New 383 was picked up today (454 HP/480 TQ) and I am feeling a renewed interest in the '74, although it was 99 today....

No.
One time I mentioned to a lifelong friend since college that I was thinking about the Corvette today ... & he said "Is there any day you don't think about the Corvette?"
Hey Jeff
You can get your handle changed by e-mailing an admin. of the forum. I always liked your no radio handle.

Since my car was rebuilt totally back around '95 or so, I have done a bunch of mods, and so the projects are FUN projects these daze, not that there is much reasonable left to do, it's about modded out by now....chryminnie...only thing stock is the damn chrome bumpers and door handles....literal truth....
oh well, time to mod the suspension a bit further, gotta pull the radiator support, maybe make a aluminum one, and move the fan closer to the radiator, to make room for a controll arm support rod, figger out what to do with that pesky power steering reservoir, need that spot too.....
next winter, maybe, maybe not....

yea...there have been a few times in the last 13 years that I just ''walked away''. But always come back with a better attitude!! Right now I can see The Diva..sitting on dollies..NO engine..*sigh*...but not much I can do till the NEW engine is delivered. (BTW..I am sitting in Violator's office at Dragon's Breath Performance...using his laptop while him & Hubby and putting new rear end gears in the '94.

I certainly get discouraged at times but with a five-month driving season I try to maximize quality Corvette time when at all possible. About three years ago it rained about 12 weekends in a row. That was brutal. I tend not to drive during the week so that was a low-mileage summer.

There are times the car sits untouched for about a month. That's a long time for me seeing I cruise/show/race the car. It's called "NEEDING YOUR SPACE"
Have you tried Vintage Air for your A/C problems (unless you want the originale style) their stuff is great. Comes polished or chrome.

I try to drive the snot out of mine during the summer and when the first snow hits I take it apart again. This car totally pisses me off and totally turns me on. It is my salvation and my living hell. Sometimes I wish I built some kind of Nova, Chevelle, Chevy II whatever - you know, a car you can get parts from a junkyard! But no, anything really cool is going to be a really big pain in the ****. And my hot rod C2 is so cool. I almost never see another C2 on the road.
(I hang in the C3 area because my engine and chassis are C3!)

Whenever I try to take a "break" from my daily driver, it breaks! (down)
Drive em hard and often, maintain em= no problems.
Let them sit, then hammer em= big troubles.

Sometimes I get discouraged, especially with my '64 vette, but my "driver"is a '72 that I LOOOOVE! It's just a great car to drive around in and although it needs paint and some bodywork, I've done the brakes and master cylinder all the way around, the rear suspension and rear differential and trailing arms are all rebuilt(by van steel) and while I was doing it, I noticed the gas tank had a small leak, so I replaced that. I also recently put a water pump and a new starter in it. I keep driving it though, and mechanically, it's pretty dependable. The engine is a little tired and it uses a little oil, but I drive it all the time.

I've spent the last few weeks working on a couple of other vehicles
- dropped a crate motor in my 72 Blazer --- not because the Vette's making me crazy -- just cause they have demanded attention (hopefully pics will follow and not white boxes with red x's)
and my 12 year old's wheels (takin care of the kids need for speed)
