Ok, but what does that have to do with Corvette's in general? So, there were a line of them doing 35 over the limit, could been any group of any type of car going to any function. There just happened to be someone from the media there to snap the picture... The way I see it is the cop had a real good day... I'm going to gather the point is if cops single out Corvette's, the answer is Yes and No... Obviously the capibility to speed in a Vette is greater than that of a Nissan Sentra... truthfully, I've written more Sentra's than Vette's...

So, if a Sentra or mini van and a red Vette top the hill at the same time, which one will the cop point his radar gun at?

I saw the photo in my local paper. It stated that each recieved a $162.00 fine. I didn't think the fine was too bad for 30 over. In some states you might end up in jail. Almost forgot. They were clocked at 95mph in a 65mph zone.

I remember someone telling me that Minnesota had something called an "Absolute" speed limit. When I asked him to explain the difference he said something like "If the sign says 'Speed Limit 65' and you're doing 70 you may or may not get a ticket depending on what kind of mood the cop is in. If the sign says 'Absolute Speed Limit 65' you'll get a ticket for doing 65.5.

I guess 95 in a 60 zone makes the Absolute designation moot.

BTW, I noticed all the cars in the picture are C5's. I wonder if they waved.

The comment is: If they were all C3s, that would be a much prettier picture.
Plus, they might have gotten off with a warning.

I'm betting they waved goodbye with one finger.

Default Morons!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was in a simular deal years ago only I decided I didn't need to stop. Think about it. The policeman can really only stop one person. So when the whole line started pulling over I just kept going. Well it must have got the police man pissed off because he had started to pull over with the group and changed his mind and came after me.

So a mile or two down the road I pull over and ask him what wants. He told me that whole group I was with has been speeding. I laughed and said, "not me all the guilty peopled pulled over!" It was right about that time the group of the 4-5 other cars go roaring by and I wave at them. I didn't know any of them, but I felt allot better taking the ticket for all of them.

See? It's those C5 drivers that give all of the Corvette people a bad name.

You know law enforcement see's an ez ticket when spotting a vette speeding...ah, he can afford it (ticket)! Breakin the law..breakin the law..."sounds like a song...hehe" I just know from personal experience..a cop spots me coming down the road..I am looking him in the eye..and all I see is his eyes..darting all around my car..."what can I stop him for...even though he aint speeding". The truth hurts..don't it.

Ah - the vette and the mini van story... I actually had one. I was coming hme to Houston via Brenham, TX and I was passing a car. He was left lne and I was the right lane. As I came over the ccrest od the hilll I saw th ecop ahead waiting. I hit the brakes and as we topped the hill, my speed decreased so quickly that it looked like the person beside me was moving faster. Ultimately, he continued on at his speed (maybe 5mph mortethan mine, was pulled over and evidently given a ticket.

.......yeah - I feel sheepish from time to time about it !!!!!! :bb , but most of the time

See, you never POINT a Radar gun at anyone... The cop sets his Radar up to cover part or all of the roadway and whoever is first over the top of the hill will send back the first reading... Lidar is totally different, with Laser you do target individual vehicles.... Still, you are required to visually estimate the speed and then confirm your estimate with the Radar/Lidar/Vascar...

I never thought in my head that someone driving an expensive car could afford the ticket... Actually, the majority of people driving the high end sports cars aren't really speeding... I did ticket a guy in a Ferrari once though...
