I have an Edelbrock 650cf with electric choke. It says to hook to a 12V source but not the coil or alternator. Where should I wire the choke?

Some people use the wiper switch yellow wire. I prefer to plug right into a free accessory terminal on the fuse block.

I just read an old post where everyone said to connect it to the ignition switch side of the ballast resistor. Can anyone tell me where the Ballas resitor is? I can't find anything in my Haynes manaul.

Why not use the alternator? There is a wire on the alternator that I splice into that is 12V only with the ignition on (checked with voltmeter). I have run the electric choke on two different Holleys for quite some time and never had any problems.

Just installed my Edelbrock 650 Thunder AVS a few months ago. I used the 12 volt supply that was being used from the Quadrajet. Other option is to go to the wiper motor positive lead. Key here is that it is an "ignition switched" power source. Wiper works well for this. Should be easy.

That answers why I can't find it in Haynes.... So, should I go with the alternator or the wipers?

I would go with ignition switched 12V from the wiper motor.

Wipers here for my Holley's electric choke. The wire's not as exposed as running one from the ALT. Whatever you choose, make sure it's a switched connection from the ignition switch.

Wire into a 12V ignition hot wire. A wire , or circuit which is hot only when ignition is on.

don't go on the alternator... it is always hot... you will burn out the choke. Use the wiper power.
