Some intresting finds and a few ?s
Yesterday when we were taking out the cam and timing gear/chain we noticed that it seemed like the engine had been rebuilt before, or at least partially, because the cam and the cam bolts looked brand new, as well as the rocker arms and springs, what was kind of weird is that 3 of the pushrods in the left cylinder bank were tottaly diffrent from the other 13, they had a kind of small tapered ball end, instead of the others which had a single one piece design, should i change all the pushrods to make them all the same, or keep the ones that were in there? We ae putting in a bit wilder cam, so i dont want to get any bent pushrods, also is there any way to check the valve springs for if theyre new or not?

I don't know that much about this subject, but I would replace them all just to be sure. Back in '76 my brother was going thru a 396 and held up a pushrod and said I can;t tell if this is bent, so it must be ok. It busted a month later and he had to do his work all over.

Do yourself a favor and buy new quality pushrods. It's not worth the headache of having to redo the job because you tried to save a few bucks.
The easy way to check for bent pushrods that I learned in my youth was to roll them on a piece of glass. If they wobble...in the trash they go.

Sounds like Bubba has been working on your engine.
I'll agree with 406shark. Replace the pushrods, and while you're at it, replace the valve springs, too. A decent set is under $100, so it's really silly to rely on the unknown.
