Those are so irritating. Some of them have the proximity sensors way to sensitive and
If you have friends that kick cars because of this then I would pick new friends that have the decency to respect others property regardless or tell your friends to grow up…. Maybe Tell bubba he‘s is no longer welcome in your circle…

the only time i could see one of those being not obnoxious in every way is. ..well there are 2 times. If its 1988 and the alarm is installed on your "solid ride" a delorean. Or if its 2005 and the alarm is installed on your corvette and is only used at car shows when you don't want people touching the car.

I would never go with a viper. The founder/owner Darell Issa is one of the most unscrupulous men on the planet. Those of you in Kali may recognize him from your recall a year or so ago. He’s the man who wanted to be governor so badly that he figured he would try to have Gray Davis recalled from office. Then he has the nerve to get upset when Arnold enters the race.

I try to keep politics to myself, but I just couldn’t help myself this time. I just wouldn’t want my car to have the voice of one of the men that caused that whole zoo in CA.
As always, this is IMHO, and YMMV.
I guess let the flaming begin.

Keep in mind the cheaper style of talking alarms only have shock sensors not proximity sensors. So in order for the bulldog or any budget type alarm to tell you that your to close you have to impact the vehicle. The alarms with the proximity sensors are $150-200 if you can still find them. They were kind of a gimic that never really stuck around and thats why the big boys don't make them any more only the less expensive units but again requires impact to your vehicle. I looked through 4 of my supplier catalogs and nothing has proximity sensors any more. Your best bet is to find a unit on ebay that someone has had brand new in a box for a few years that never got around to installing and make sure it has proximity.

The best proximity alarm I've ever seen or even heard of was a fully grown male Rottweiller named Charlie.
You could leave your Vette unattended and running with a "Please steal this car" sign on it all day long and I guarantee that it would still be there when you got back.
