Default Crane XR-1 points Conversion Kit

I installed this kit on my LT-1 and I'm having trouble getting it to fire.
has anyone installed this before? if so, what the hell did I do wrong?
It seems like #1 plug is firing intermittenly (sp?)

Yes I have 12 volts going to the XR-1, but it doesnt seem to start. It will turn over, burble, pop, and sputter but will not run. My timing is exactly where it should be from the dyno runs but I didnt install the XR-1 when I was on the dyno

any ideas?

Tear the motor out, take it back to the builder, look at him dead in the face and say

"IT BROKE!! YOU FIX!!"

see if that helps

I would try moving the dist a little, also check the built in rev limiter.

Careful, I think you want the resister wire or ballast resister. 12V is not their spec.

Wow.... I just typed up a thread 2 days ago how Impressed I was (am) with the Crane conversion I installed last weekend.....
How did you set the airgap??? I left the screws loose on the pick-up turned the motor over by hand 'till a lobe was touching the unit, pulled it back just a hair & tightened the screws..... Timing was dead on after the install Fired right up & runs MUCH BETTER!!!

I installed this kit on my LT-1 and I'm having trouble getting it to fire.
has anyone installed this before?
I did this conversion to the wifes 1973 about 6 months ago and it's worked perfectly.

Be careful where you pick up your 12v source from. There are some places under the hood that may show 12v on a test meter with the engine not turning... but will dip in voltage as the engine starts to turn over.

Are you running an MSD ignition? I have seen now in both my car and one of my buddy's that this combination causes the timing to advance considerably. See if you are getting spark at the coil by grounding the coil wire. If you are, try retarding your timing.
