Default Origin of cross flag emblem?

Can anyone explain the origin and meaning of the cross flag emblem? I imagine the check flag represents racing and winning. The Chevy Bowtie is there but obscured. (Which is odd) What is the meaning of the girl scout symbol or French fleur-de-lis (sorry) type thingy?

All that came out in '53 when they changed the original American flag motif to the existing crossed flags. The fleur de lis honors Louis Chevrolet.

Incidentally there are several conflicting stories about the Chevrolet Bowtie, the one I like is from his widow that said he borrowed it from another business's newspaper ad, ("quick lite coal" or similar) and has no relationship to his name, the Fluer d lis or flower of the Lilly, was used by the French Monarchy and church, to indicate the trinity of G-d and some other cr-p
The action center story is a good one, read that too.

Originally it was supposed to be a checkered flag with the American flag; and the first '53 protos had these. Unfortunately it is against the law to use the U.S. flag as a logo on a money making product, so the flag witht the fleur de lis was selected commemorating Mr. Chevrolets French background. The rest is history.......
