Speed Demon install questions
I can't order my TV bracket for the 2004r before I figure this out:
I'm tired of having to tear half the carb apart to adjust mixtures other than idle, so I'm ditching the Qjet. I plan on a Speed Demon 750 mechanical secondary carb. I read Lars' paper on the FAQ, he even has list of parts to order. Has anyone ordered the Holly heat shield http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...08-70&x=15&y=8 and made the bends that Lars recommends?
I don't have a sheet metal bender (is it called a brake?). Can this be done on a Workmate or vise?
Also did anyone use the double inlet line with the pressure gauge and filter or did you use the list from Lars?
Next question: what intake will work with my stock hood and aircleaner? should I keep the EGR , EGE valve and the vacuum ported wax thermostats?

I dont know about the heatshield but im running a performer RPM intake without EGR and smog with a 650 speed demon and stock 79 l-48 hood and a drop base air cleaner and it fits fine, and looks VERY cool, hope this helps you out .

I use a 1/2 inch wood as a thermal spacer. I've always questioned how functional a shield is. But yes, a vice or a metal edged work bench has always worked for me.
I've always thought that Demons end up with way to much throttle petal tension when installed with dual external return springs. so I popped the carb spring off the secondary side shaft.

The shield is made out of aluminium so it bends easily and better yet it cuts easily.. Here is my set up with a BG SD 650 mech sec.. You can use the chrome line or use this set up.. 70 LT1 pump to carb from any of the ware houses... Dave
