Default Replacing Snubber Bushing...Need Some Advice

Vetters, I need to replace the pinion snubber bushing (Upper and Lower). Never done this before but I am more than capable of doing it. Looked through the Tech Tips no luck.

Can this be replace easily? Advice welcome.

Should be fairly straight forward. I think it's supposed to be torque to about 70ft-lbs. Just unbolt it, keep everything in order, then reassemble in the same order. The hard part is getting a wrench on the top of the bolt to hold it from spinning. It seems like it hits somewhere all the time. A wrench with an offset would be best.

Use some med grade lock tight just to make sure the nut doesn't work its way free. Not a bad job at all to do.

A floor jack is how I lifted mine.

Besides the bolts for the snubber mounting bracket, did you have to loosen any other bolts on the diff?

Last month I gave it a 30 second look and said "No way!" took it to a Vette shop and they replaced upper/ lowers, universals and replaced all french locks/bolts for under $300. Well worth every penny.

The only bolt and nut you have to loosen is the one on the bushing. Lift the diff w/the floor jack a little bit, Unbolt the pinion bushing, remove old parts, install new and tighten. Drop diff and go for a ride. I would also get poly.

I agree with others. If all you are doing is the snubber, it is a simple job.

Thanks for all the advice. As soon as it stops raining here on the east coast I will change them.
