I have a friend that is getting out of the drag racing hobby and he actually has THREE Muncie 4 speeds in his garage.

The M-22 (aka Rock Crusher) was the heavy duty close-ratio 4 speed. The gear ratios were the same as the M-21 but the gear teeth were cut straighter. It was stronger but made more noise than the M-21. It was preferred for road racing
The M-20 (wide ratio) is actually preferred by many for drag racing as it had lower ratios (higher numerically) in the first three gears, and thus gave quicker acceleration.
