Alternator: Is the small brown wire the "field" wire?
I need to put this diode in there and want to confirm before a solder it in.

*From the Haynes manual (I know, not the most reliable source for electrical schematics).
If you have an alternator with an internal regulator - the brown wire comes from the fusible link at the starter, through the generator indicator lamp then to terminal 1 on the alternator.
If you have an external regulator the brown or brown/white wire comes from 'hot in run' goes to the generator indicator lamp then to terminal 4 of the regulator.
I don't know what you call the field wire. Whats the purpose of the diode you want to put in?
