Default help with turn signal, I am a rookie

I bought a 79 and the turn siganal with cruise control broke off. I found a new one. I am a little worried about removing the steering colum cover. Any tricks or hints.

I broke mine off as well the other day (just trying to turn on the high beams, must have pulled back to hard and snap :mad ). I can't get the end out so I had to pull everything apart.

It is not hard to pull the steering wheel apart. If you have a service manual with break outs it is really very easy. Just take your time and don't loose any of the parts.

Good luck!!!

Since you mentioned the turn signal, mine is very hard to pull up or down, like it needs lubrication or something. Can you lubricate it? Do you just spray lube in there?

The 1977 through 1982 turn signal levers just plug-in to the steering column. The problem is that they usually break off so that you can't grap the nub and pull the remains out of the steering column. The following downloads tell you how to use some simple tools to get the stub out of the column without tearing the column apart.

good luck
