Default collectors edition...whats it worth???

an acquaintance has recently had a bout with cancer and is having to sell a few of his cars...one of which is a collectors edition corvette...
i am going over to have a look at it this morning and take some pix to post here for your inspection...
a good friend that helped me do a lot of the work on mine did 99% of the work to it and tells me this...

fresh rebuild on the original block motor which included removing the crossfire and replacing it with an edelbrock intake and carb...
(they still have all of the stuff)
less than 1000 miles on the motor...

freshly rebuilt original trany...done at a local "Speedy's Transmission" shop less than 1000 miles ago...

new seat covers and foam, carpet. some of the console and other interior parts and pieces...

new paint (original color) done well including all jams...
but it is minus the $1500 decal kit..

original CE wheels...new brakes and tires...original bronze glass tops...

the front valance and side marker lights are not there because they have new ones and are currently painting them prior to install...

price...$10,000

some pix are below, whataya think???
i have no idea what these are worth... do you?

If it's in good shape and you get the complete crossfire setup including all the emissions devices and related stuff, I'd say it's a pretty good deal

For 10K, I don't think you can go wrong, especially with all the work that's been done to it. It looks nice. I never liked those fade decals anyway.

For 10k I'd buy it, the lower air dam, markers and the rubber front lip are missing. No biggie. The airdam is pretty crucial when it comes to engine cooling

It's pretty sweet man, if you're not interested can I buy it?

Just for comparison,I bought a Collector in December 2003 for around $5000
and all I can say positively is it has a good solid frame and runs strong. It needs paint, interior complete and all the TLC I can muster.I think its a forgone conclusion that yours is a good deal.Check out the http://82ceregistry.com forum and run your question by the members, andI think youll get a positive response.

The CE registry site is not very active right now, server is being moved for another couple of weeks.

Me, I would say thats a really good price for the condition of that vette. Go for it.

And be sure to get all the CFI stuff too.....

ok...thanx guys...let me ask you this...
i obviously dont needd another C3 right now as i am quite happy drivin mine...
heck...i hate automatic trans vettes (no offense meant)...

so let me ask the question another way...
they only made 6759 of theseCE's...
bein its in good shape...go you think i could buy it, finish it and sell it for a few grand more???
or would it be a bad idea for me to maybe buy it and put in the corner of the shop, cover it up and take it for a drive once a month or so and make a little money on it in a few years???

Yeah you could, it's still going to cost you a few more bucks to finish. And there are no more original decals. Mine are painted on, but there is a company that is making aftermarket decals now.

I think the going price for a really nice CE is about $17,000 right now.
