Need suggestions for screw holer filler material
I've begun refurbishing the interior of my car, and I've discovered that over the years "Bubba" has replaced many of the interior screws with all sorts of sizes. Some sheet metal screws, wood screws, you name it. Many of the screw holes have been stripped long ago. I'm thinking about filling in the holes with some sort of plastic material that, once hardened, can be drilled and fitted for proper screws. Do you folks have any suggestions? How have you handled this situation? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Although I've never attempting using it for this purpose, you could try JB Weld. Another option may be to purchase a package of the "clips" that slide in place and act as a "nut" for non-machine screws (name?).

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I'll try use the metal clips as much as I can, but the JB Weld might work for places where the clips can't be used, such as the retainer bars for the rear quarter panels. I appreciate your help.

One other suggestion you may want to look into is Riv nuts. They basically install like a pop rivet, and leave a threaded hole that accepts the supplied threaded screw. I think that there are several sizes. I was able to find the rive nut tool and riv nuts at Menards.

I'll try to explain this understandably.
I bought a plastic office file can. The plastic is about 070" thick. Then cut small rectangles from it. In each rectangle I drilled a hole the size of the inside diameter of the screws. Next I glued the rectangles over/behind the destroyed holes. The screw will then self tap into the plastic. Seems to do well. I think I did 5 or 6 areas like that.

I have used zip ties by sticking them in the hole, installing the screw and trimming the ends off.
