Default C5 Component Weight List

I am in the process of re-installing a bunch of parts in my FRC/Targa race car to return it to street duty and subsequent sale. See the car here: http://sdickeyt.photosite.com/BlackCorvette/
I have weighed the items as they go back in. This is a partial list and I will up date it as I go along. This list does not include seats, carpet, airbags, wipers/motor assy, and under hood A/C, headlights and misc. items. I expect the weight returned to exceed 300# when I get it all back in.

Item Weight

HVAC (base under dash unit)-----------------------------18.0
Blower motor (Heat/AC)------------------------------------4.0
HVAC plastic ducts------------------------------------------2.0
Airbag/glove box aluminum support-----------------------4.0
Aluminum Center console support-------------------------2.0
A/C control head--------------------------------------------1.0
Dash vent duct----------------------------------------------2.0
Knee bolster support (white foam)------------------------1.0
Bose radio amplifier box-----------------------------------1.0
Radio, AM/FM/CD--------------------------------------------3.0
Door module, harness, regulator (left)--------------------7.0
Window glass (left)------------------------------------------9.0
Door module, harness, regulator (right)------------------7.0
Window glass (right)----------------------------------------9.0
Glove box assy----------------------------------------------3.0
Door speaker (left)------------------------------------------3.0
Door speaker (right)----------------------------------------3.0
Exterior rear view mirror (left)-----------------------------3.0
Exterior rear view mirror (right)---------------------------3.0

Current total------------------------------------------------85.0#

What did your car weigh when you removed all the extra stuff and how much faster did the weight savings make it??

This is good stuff. I'm working on gathering weights, mostly suspension related weights, but I can eventually use this as well. I'm going to copy this into my thread in the autocross forum.

If any of y'all want to check more weights, check the thread out in the autocross forum over the next couple of days as I'll be compiling specs out there. Thanks Shirl!

Shirl,

So, what's next on the mod horizon? I'm assuming that it'll be fiberglass and it'll fly, since that describes just about everything you've done that I know about!

Have a good one,
Mike

I did not get a chance to weigh the car when it was light, but my estimate is 2900#... I built it as a dedicated track car and I had a BIG pile of parts that were removed... The reason I am weighing the parts as they go back in is to get a rough idea on the total weight savings... I expect the car to weigh about 3200 lbs when it is all back together.
Since it was a dedicated track car I removed a lot of items that most people would not be willing to take off the car... Like the complete heating and A/C system, the emergency brake assy (less unsprung weight too), all door glass, harness and regulators, complete wiper/motor assy, all carpet, glove box, and trim and etc.
The car only made it to the track once and I had a few teething bugs, but it was awesome in accelleration, braking and cornering...
The reason I started returning it to original condition is I had a buyer for the car that wanted it that way... The deal seems to have fallen through. My plan now is to complete reinstallation of the windows and lighting. After that, I have a 431 cid stroker motor to install... This will allow me to take it to the street for some additional fun... I will continue to drive/race/show the car until I find a serious buyer and I will complete the installation of remaining parts if necessary... I figure the 431 stroker can handle a little extra weight and still be a pretty hairy ride. I can always remove the parts again if I want to.

Were there updates to this? If there's another 215 lbs of parts weighed, I really want to know what parts they are, and what they weighed. I've used this info to update this thread:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=856772

The information in that thread is all over the place, but I'm getting ready to extremely edit the information in that thread, or just start a new one. I'll update with any new information that gets added to this thread as well. Thanks again Shirl for all the good info!
