I noticed my fan would hit the shroud on hard accelerations so I hooked up the engine lift to check the engine on driver side and sure enough bad mount.
These are brand new GM rubber mounts with only 5000 mile on them. :mad

At the same time I'm under the car and looking at possible oil leaks and see a one inch crack in HB sleeve section. Also brand new with motor mounts. :mad

I read the recent thread on motor mounts and want to get the poly ones (forgot name) but need some advice on replacing the mounts. Can a mount be replaced without pulling the engine from tranny (any tips)?

Also could bad mount cause HB to fail early? What was the HB rating called that Lars talked about? (search wont pull up his post for some reason) THX

I replaced just the drivers side with poly last summer, bought a single at the local parts store and so far no problems with mixing rubber and poly and the passenger side is holding up fine, the driver side mount takes the brunt of the torq when you hammer it since the eng wants to rotate toward the passenger side.

Does the engine have to be pulled?

No just lifted enough to replace the mounts

I was thinking of replacing just the driver side only. Can I leave the passenger side connected and still lift engine enough to install mount? Passenger mount is new also.
