Ash Tray / Lighter Conversion (to hidden switch panel)
I've decided to make my C3 more personalized vs going stock. Given I'm a nut for gagets and messing around with electrical, I've decided to convert the area below my ash tray / lighter door into a concealed sitch panel (i.e. fan override, electric fuel pump, etc.).
As anyone done this and could you post some pictures. I'm currently searching for a panel that will simply mount in once I cut out the base of the lighter and ash tray.
Thanks

Just a silly idea but if they make reproduction ash trays why not just take out the lighter and put the switches in the ash tray that is there.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow and show you what I did so far... Basically, used a dremel cuting wheel and sliced the base of the ash tray and lighter off. Created a lot of room to work with wires while leaving the top shelf for mounting the switch panel. Now the key is to find a panel that works (size).

you are correct... I do want to keep the cover functional and cover the switches up.

Re: Ash Tray / Lighter Conversion (80TexasC3)
My panel is relatively small due to only having a switch for my electric fan at the moment. If I ever need more room I will cut out the lighter and make a bigger panel. I just used some aluminum from Home Depot and cut a size to fit. A little gluage (is that a word) at each corner and it stays in place, and if I ever want to do away with it, it will be an easy pop out. Sorry for no pics but I will have some tomorrow after I charge my digital camera battery.

Thanks... and I like the idea of making my own... creates more of a sense of accomplishment that way.
